Salisbury School (Salisbury, CT)

Ht: 6-foot-2
Wt: 225 lbs
Forty: 4.79 secs
Bench reps: 24
Vertical: 32 inches
Shuttle: 4.49 secs

Scout Bio:
Head Coach Chris Adamson says:
Forrest has great natural pass rushing skills and does a great job getting underneath a blocker and using proper leverage. Once he gets under someone he has the quickness to blow right by people and get to the quarterback to make a play on the ball. He also has nice hands on the offensive side of the ball.

New England May Be Cold, But They Can Play Some Football!
NUC NEW ENGLAND, INDOOR ACTION SPORTS CENTER, GREENFIELD, MA-
4/15/07

The National Underclassmen Combine moved North to New England, and despite inclement weather, enjoyed a favorable turnout and a number of impressive performances. Leading the charge was the Overall MVP, sophomore defensive end J. Forest West of Salisbury High School in Connecticut.

West, 6-foot-1 and 223-pounds, left no doubt that he was the best participant in New England. He is a great athlete, very strong, fast and has a great future as a defensive end. During the combine events, he finished with 21 reps at 185-pounds, a 31.5-inch vertical, 9’7 ½” broad, 4.49 shuttle, and 4.94 40.

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West

He was pretty highly ranked as a SO and then missed his JR year. Hard to figure why he didn't get more looks so far this year. He evidently has grown a bit since 10th grade, which makes him undersized for a DE. A 4.9 40 (from the NU combine) is too slow for a LB. Pass rushing specialist?

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West

People put way too much stock into 40 times. They can't be dismissed, but sometimes they can be misleading. jmho.

I totally agree with that, and most of them that are listed are a bunch of garbage anyways. But there aren't too many guys playing LB these days that are slow, not in the B12 anyways. It's become a speed game. At his size, you got to be fast to get a scholly, or you end up walking on like Jeff Smart.

Sick. Sleeper of the class ala speedy candidate!!

6? We have 2 de's and 2 dt's.

6-2 225 seems a bit undersized for de but we'll see, I welcome him big time!

Still need NASH.

True on both counts. Sorry I was counting the DBs as being on the D too. Guess you were mainly focused on D-line guys.

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West (Committed to Colorado - 01/18/09)

I hope we can steal Eddie Williams from UCLA. I think we'll give him a shot at DT. He was recruited out of HS as a DT. Mt. SAC moved him to OL.

We need db's too but we are set for at least 2 years there. Always focused on d-line.

Lb isn't a priority with all the guys we have there but you should at least grab one each cycle.

Don't know much about webb but sounds like a player from all the experts so i'm stoked.

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West (Committed to Colorado - 01/18/09)

Look at his profile...he is ripped. He also had good things to say about Bandison. Anyways what is his first name? J? or J. Forrest? And what is his last name:confused:

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West (Committed to Colorado - 01/18/09)

Definitely a guy nobody was looking at. CU had him at a camp in June. Uconn didn't even recruite them (but they did get a RB named Hypolite)....

Run Forest Run

I saw what I need to see in his highlight based off one play - watch this clip at 1:40 into it - he has SPEED for a DE.

Running down RB

He did it more than once -- the other play wasn't quite as obvious as the first. And I like the play after the one you noted; a punt block. It'd be nice to see a few of those.....

Seems to tackle high a lot. Something a position coach can correct. Nice find IB.

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West (Committed to Colorado - 01/18/09)

When it says 'bench reps,' what weight are they referring to?

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West (Committed to Colorado - 01/18/09)

I'm even less confident than you, but I thought it was 225. Bar plus 4 plates.

I actually posted this yesterday, but it was one of 3 posts that didn't make it to the board. 225 is the NFL weight, but I was thinking the college weight was lower.

Re: '09 CT DE J. Forrest West (Committed to Colorado - 01/18/09)

I love the fact he doesnt get all excited after making a great play. He just gets up and goes back to the huddle like he's done it before! WElcome C. Forrest!
