CU Offensive line bingo - All Colorado HS line v. ....

.... All-2008 red-shirt line v. All-unavailable in 2008 line.

My personal favorite: All Colorado high school offensive line:

OT - Ryan Miller (Littleton)
OG - Bryce Givens (Mullen)
C - Evan Eastburn (Fairview)
OG - Jack Harris (Chaparrel)
OT - Nate Solder (Buena Vista)
TE - Riar Geer (Fruita)

(It would be great to see all of these local players on the field against CSU, the team which signed only one Colorado high school recruit this year)

All-unavailable in 2008 - for most if not all of the season (injury/status for spring):

OT - Ryan Miller (broken leg / full go)
OG - Maxwell Tuioti-Marinier (knee / limited)
C - Mike Iltis (knee / limited)
OG - Blake Behrens (shoulder / limited)
OT - Sione Tau (suspended in 2008)
TE - Luke Walters (leg / out for spring)

All-redshirt in 2008

OT - Bryce Givens (redshirt freshman)
OG - Mike Iltis (redshirt freshman/medical)
C - Evan Eastburn (redshirt - transfer)
OG - Maxwell Tuioti-Mariner (redshirt - medical)
OT - Ryan Miller (redshirt - medical)
TE - Ryan Wallace (redshirt freshman)

I'll be the first to admit that I have no way of objectively judging the performance of an offensive lineman. Yes, I can look at the obvious (rushing yardage, sacks allowed), and pour over the weekly offensive line grades (which are as much a mystery to me as the vaunted "passing efficiency" statistic). What I do know, though, is that having this huge stockpile of talent bodes well for the future.

What was it - all of two years ago when the spring game was a series of seven-on-seven drills because the Buffs did not have enough healthy offensive lineman to conduct a full scrimmage?

We've come a long way! Welcome, Denver Johnson - pick your best five, eight, or ten. Coach 'em up, and dominate!

Go Buffs!

Nice poke there, Montana.

Denver Johnson has to be a very happy guy - he has an easy job. Just don't screw up the talent. The fact that we're getting so many of these guys in-state is so important for future recruiting. If we can continue to get our big guys in-state, we can really focus on getting the best skill guys out-of-state.

We are going to impose our will on the opposition this year.

For some reason, the southern states just produce the speed. HOwever, nothing wrong with getting the big dudes instate. especially since establishing that pipeline makes it more likely that any speedy instate guys will STAY instate...

Me likey the way this season is shaping up. WAY better than the news we were getting at this point last year...

*knock on wood*

I like the way our offensive line looks, but there is still some work to be done. Some of the guys that will be pushing for lots of playing time next year have either seen minimal game action or none at all. I expect us to be much better, especially if we stay healthy, but we're not at the point where we can say that Johnson has an easy job.

Regarding our OL, I hope that Bunny will constantly hear himself say throughout the season "Did you see that freakin' defensive line come apart?"

I hate to bring this up . . . .but what you are suggesting is really a Tom Osborn Nebraska Pipeline model. You really can't argue with the success they had with it though.

You could say that. You could definitely say that, but with a dash of sophistication added.

Ban yourself...

That is exactly what I thought when I read it. Local beef, and out of state weapons. Although we have a few more instate prospects to pick from then they ever did.

You used the name of the anti-christ and the synonym for Hades all in the same post...on this board. Good gawd, man, have you gone mad?

He was/is an evil son of a bitch, but no one has ever suggested he wasn't smart.

Did you see this story about the small town of 25,000 that has 5 active players in the NFL.

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_11568494

The town is so poor that some of the youth chase rabbits to eat or to sell.
With all the rabbits in Broomfield and Westminster we could have the fastest players in the nation.

Completely off topic but my wife's hometown in north central IA has 4 or 5 professional athletes that are from there. I think there at least three NFL players and Nick Collison of OKC of the NBA.
