DH needs to get this kid. SPonder, Hinder, and a couple of more CO kids, then the rest from CA, TX, and Ohio

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

...good work Valdez

This kid is a major stud...the leader of the Mullen defense last year...has a solid speed rush from the end, good moves inside and great hands to move lineman where he pleases...had 19 sacks last year if I recall correctly, and should be one of the top 3 in state kids that we need to land next year

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

Would say Hinder & Mister Jones....those would be my top 3 priorities right now....but considering the batch of CO kids I wouldn't mind taking 6-7 of them

Gotcha. I bet we end up with five when it's all said and done.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

If it wasn't for the Ray Polk excitement this morning I probably wouldn't be so high on Mister Jones...but I don't think it would be smart to pass up on in-state RB talent when we could use one in this next year for solid depth & spacing.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

I agree he's good, but at his size, he's either got to add a ton of weight, or be agile enough to be a LB (which from what I've seen of him, I think may be the case). It will be interesting to see how his recruitment goes.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

Read a few articles about his stock starting to pick up...offers from ASU & Tulsa

AHEM...DAN HAWKINS, move in on this guy immediately. I'm not sure about him as a DE because he lacks the necessary size, but think he could be an excellent OLB/DE Hybrid player with his ridiculous strength & 4.5 speed.

He's been by far my favorite Mullen guy to watch over the past few years and is a MUST land IMO. Get on it Buffs!

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

DH needs to offer this kid soon. If he comes in late then he mind resent it, and go off to a rival.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

Dan Hawkins needs to wait and see how this kid performs at camps. He is a tweener in every sense of the word. I would be shocked if he runs a legit 4.5 as well.

I am not going to put a ton of stake in the number that Rivals has posted....but I will tell you that as a Mullen alum who has seen this kid play a bunch, he is very fast with a very quick first step, and has eye-popping strength, pushing back some much bigger offensive tackles at times.

But the speed is what got him the ridiculous # of sacks he had last year, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is running a 4.5 or less

I would. Those are NFL combine numbers.

I think he is down the list anyway. We have already offered some DE/OLB hybrids.

I sure hope that's not the case....I really think this guy has what it takes to blossom into a big time player in the future and I'd hate for him to land elsewhere because we slept on him

BUT...I do trust in Hawk and the guys he's bringing in and I'm sure if they have him into some camps this summer Hawk will be after him

Those numbers on Rivals are provided by the player, not by Rivals. There is no way this kid is close to 6'1" or 4.5 in the forty..... But he has some serious burst, but not 4.5 forty speed.

Very true...I most likely got ahead of myself in the 4.5 area, as most of our receivers can't even come close to that number....but for his size & position he has some quick feet

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

All vitals aside....I watched a Mullen game last October. Onyeali was all over the place. The announcers occasionally mentioned where certain players were committed to, or who was recruiting whom. But all my attention was on #17. This kid can play.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

Looks like we officially offered him along with a bunch of others now....giant :woot: there....now let's real him in!!!

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

Don't get the feeling he ends up in Boulder, could be wrong.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

So are we going to a 3-4? If so,those OLB's are going to need to be much bigger.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

I've thought of this guy one of the Top 3 recruits in CO this cycle and Hawk has a pretty good track record of bringing in at least 2 of those 3....with Hinder out of the loop I think we go after him pretty hard and I like our chances....plus I'll be at a few Mullen games trying to cheer him in the right direction

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

he supposedly was dogging our program and facilities at the spring game.

Re: '10 CO DE Nduka Onyeali

From what one of my buddies who coaches in the high school ranks says, he thinks the kid has a great motor and is definitely a playmaker. But he also says he seems pretty short. Would not mind him choosing the Buffs at all, but I'm much more interested in the soph LBs at Mullen.
