Would a win over WVU redeem Hawkins?

Would you forgive Hawk if he beats WVU?

  • Yeah, I forgive Hawk for kicking WVU's ass

It would....as long as he goes at least .500 in conference. Ain't happening.

Hell no! Nothing but wins from now through Fukbraska is an automatic redemption in my book. If he ends up with a winning season my willingness to be fully behind him will depend on how we played and who we got victories against.

It would go a long way towards changing a lot of people's minds.

The Wyoming win today didn't change a thing. Wyoming is just that bad.

A lot depends on how the win would play out. Backing into a win wouldn't change a thing.

If the team came out, played hard, and earned a SOLID, unquestionable win on the road at night, you have to look at things as turning around.

Yea, a win over WV and 4-4 in conference would most likely buy him another year, I would think. But a win over WV wouldn't in and of itself redeem him. Maybe for a couple of weeks like DBT said, but if he beats WV and ends up 4-8 then he's toast - or at least he should be.

Hardass, Oh, and Go Spilly!!!

And like Carolina said, it's gotta be followed up by continued growth and at LEAST a .500 conference record.

I still see ISU and KSU as the only winnable games right now though.

I was counting on a 5-2 start to the season.

All Hawk needs to do to get me back on board is beat West Virginia, Texas and Kansas. Then, we'll be back on schedule to go into Kansas State and get where we should be.

Hardass,
I haven't pulled my support for him completely, but with the way we started (not the losses but the way we played) it's going to take a lot for me to get 100% behind him again.

It would be a start and would make up for the one loss that I thought were wins before the season.

It would be a good start, winning at WVU, but he has much more to do than that. Like I said during the first two losses... it is not the 0-2, its the way we got there.

Beat WVU and win 6 of 8 B12... now you are talk'n

I really think aTm is going to surprise some people. I hope I'm wrong, I hope Sherman pulls a Juicebox, but they started getting it going at the end of last season.

Even this summer, when I though we'd be much better than we are, i felt like the aTm game was the game that was going to jump up and bite us in the ass.

And ISU and KSU are both on the road, so we can probably only count on one of those at best.

Like i said in the good bad and ugly thread though. I think KU will be a real barometer of where this team is at. Right now, I say we still get smoked, but at Folsom, it COULD be a winable game with another month of experience and growth.

Man, did I **** up that poll or what? :smile2: I meant "would a WVU win change you mind on Hawk, or not." Or something like that.

All this win did today was secure the continuation of mediocrity most likely for the rest of the season. If he lost today and there was any chance of them making a change during the season, this would have been the week to do it with the bye coming up. I have a feeling he eeks out another win or two, maybe three if he guts lucky. If by some miracle he does better than that I am sure we will see him in Boulder for another year.

If cu goes out and gets blown out the next 3 weeks I would disagree.

Let's see - two away games and then Kansas - I think there is a 90% chance of 3 blowouts. But hawk is going nowhere this year, and probably next year, too.

Well, maybe we get a win at WV, lose to texas and beat ku at home. :smile2:

It would help, but I will save my judgement for the end of the year. Who knows, when he said ten wins, maybe he wanted to get the two losses over with and now they are gonna be unstoppable!?!?

You know what, at this point, I really don't care about wins and losses. I mean, I want to win, but what I really want to see is a competitive and disciplined team that is well coached and plays well. I can take a loss if they go out and play hard but this crap I have seen the past few years and especially this season is unacceptable. The win today, did nothing to change my over all impression of the product being put onto the field. Still lots of penalties and mistakes, Cody played the whole game again and even though we are redshirting Hansen, there needs to be another QB getting at least a few snaps toward the end when the game was basically over. Then there is all of our impact players that sit the bench the whole time. What is up with these WRs that we keep hearing about?

I'm really suprised by so many of the opinons in this thread. We beat Wyoming. Is that what has become of CU is that our coach redeems himself with a sloppy win over Wyoming?? Wyoming?!?

Cody played the whole game and looked mostly like $hit - nothing new. The majority of balls were thrown to espinoza over simmons, simas, darden & ussery.

I will not support Dan Hawkins until he plays a REAL qb and puts in our talent. I still have zero faith in him (not the team, just Dan & Cody).

Who are the delusional people that think we've got a shot against WVU and Texas based on a sloppy ugly win? I don't want to sound negative, but I found very little encouraging with this win.

Resolve our qb situation and I'll start drinking the kool aide

Almost agree with everything except that I think we have a slight chance at WVU, but then again, all I know about WVU is that they lost a ton of players from last year. With a bye week to get ready for it though, a win wouldn't surprise me too much, but then again, nor would a Toledo style blowout.

2-2 to start the season doesn't lead to anyone getting redeemed. It'd be a very nice result, but it doesn't erase being dominated by CSU and holy Toledo.

:yeahthat:

Good win today, but let's see the whole body of work (the whole season).. Regardless, the first two games count and aren't "mulligans". You can't redeem those pathetic performances.
