that's all i have to say.

i like the effort some of our guys bring, but i think we are being lulled to sleep with sucking.

Agreed....if we claim victory with tonight's close game, then we are settling for much less than where we should be. Get somebody in who will turn this ship around. 1-3? Give me a break.

It was a good effort, but so damn frustrating knowing what the end result was going to be :bang:

Dear Fans
Don't lose faith now. In another 9 or 10 games and we will have the little things fixed.
Dan

P.S. I did say fixed for this season didn't I.

Totally agree here, every Buff fan if honest with themselves knew what the outcome of this game would be. Yes they played hard and yes they looked better, but bear in mind WVU had 4 lost fumbles and 2 of them were deep in CU territory where they would have probably scored 2 TD's, we were about 3 plays from being totally embarrassed once again on National TV.

I have been super patient with Cody and yes he plays hard but simply ut, he is a bad quarterback, he can't run, he has a weak arm and he makes horrible decisions. Until he is gone we will never win games, he really does nothing well.

Speedy was killing it in the first half, so of course they went away from him in the 2nd half, yet another troubling decision from the coaching staff.

We are going to get slaughtered at Texas and most likely beaten soundly at home by KU.

As I see it we may beat KSU and ISU and possibly aTm but I wouldn't count any of those are sure things.

D. Scott is probably on his way out too, it is just a ****ty situation all around, it going to be a looooooong 8 more games, ugh.

WTF with "we're?" FU. You can be terrible if you want. But don't include me, mo fo.

The Buffs are obviously improving with each game this season. That was not happening last year at this pace.

I have the feeling that many who have you on their schedule, and who saw last night's game, are not thinking of their game with you as anything other than a fight for their lives, just like West Virginia was thinking last night by the 4th quarter.

Improving? Maybe but IMHO we got worse over the offseason. Last year we were 3-1 going into Texas. 1-3 this year. We are bad! If that was a fight for our lives, we are dead.

We are improving from the first two games this season. I agree that we regressed since last year. Our O still looks pretty poor, and our D has seemed to take a step back.

What more do you want the defense to do? How many turnovers and big stops with good field position in the first half do you want?

The big difference? If you (WVU) turn the ball over that many times against any other Big 12 team, you lose that game even before halftime. If WVU were playing Texas last night, they would have lost by 50 points turning the ball over.

The defense was on the field all night, they got tired (which is a diff issue).

The offensive line played their second best game, but I'll give them their due by saying it was their best game considering you can't compare WVU to Wyo... The offense is terrible. We have seen flashes of good WR's. Simas, McKnight, Simmons, & Jefferson should be on the field in some variation every play. Geer & Devenny are okay, but should not be go-to WR's downfield.

We HAVE the O-Line, we HAVE the WR's (now play them), and we HAVE the RB's. If Cody is the best we have t offer, Gosh help us all! But he could get a huge boost by removing this selfish pride Squawkins has, and puts his athletes at WR on the field. They should have redshirted Simmons and Jefferson is they are going to have a wasted season.

Put your best players on the field!!!!!

I have to disagree with most of your post. I think the defense is most of the problem. With last year's defense this team could be 3-1, maybe 4-0.

The defensive line has been dominated in every game save Wyo. This is the weakest linebacker corps I can remember CU ever fielding. The safety play is horrid, and the cornerbacks, advertised to be outstanding, are not meeting expectations. The biggest mistake WVU made was trying to do too much, Devine was gaining 7yds on every carry.

Offensively, the O-line remains our biggest issue, imo. Pass blocking improved, but run-blocking is still deficient, Speedy gained a lot of yards on his own last night. Cody is a manager, not a playmaker, but he is not costing us these games.

At receiver, I'm convinced that McKnight is the best one we have right now. Despite having the raw talent, Simas and Simmons don't yet seem to have down their timing/patterns.

I'm sorry, but how is Cody not helping us to lose these games? 3 Ints from a game manager type QB who will make absolutely no plays on his own certainly doesn't help. When Chad Pennington throws 3 Ints it means his team has lost the game.

He had some good throws last night, and made some heady plays as well. You just choose to ignore them.

Some good throws will never out weigh several bad throws, i'm just sorry to say this but he's not the answer to our QB situation and we should have had a QB change a long long time ago. If the coaches truly beleive that he gives our football team the best chance to win then this seasons going to be even longer than it already looks.

That's the thing: Touchdowns to interceptions isn't a 1:1 ratio. You have to look at when they took place, what game situation was the context. Right off the bat take Cody's last TD out of the equation because the game was out of reach, meanwhile his picks were devastating to our momentum. WVU tried to gift wrap the game for us last night and Cody gave it right back to them. That's not a personal attack but he made the decisions and made the throws that led to interceptions. He did make a few plays last night... so what? We lost anyway which is the story of hawk's tenure at CU.

What heady plays and good throws? You actually might be right because I honestly don't remember anything of the sort.

Also, I'm not putting the loss 100% on Cody. It was a real Dan Hawkins team effort loss out there last night. I'm just confused as to how some people don't think Cody did nothing but hurt the team last night.

If you look at CU's qbs since Barnett, who was more serviceable than Cody? Klatt is the only no-brainer, imo. Certainly not Hodge, Bjax, or Colvin. I would take him over Pesavento and Moschetti, who had much more talent surrounding them, though some might disagree. Ochs probably, if he was coachable.

To me, Hansen seems much like Moschetti physically, but I haven't seen the leadership that Moschetti deomonstrated in Hansen, and that was Moschetti's strongest attribute. I think the team responds better to Hawkins.

Ok I just thought of one. His TD pass to Scotty where he stepped up into the pocket and underthrew Scotty. Other than that I can't think of a single other play where I thought, NICE!

But keep in mind that Barnett was smart enough to go with what was going to win, he didn't have his QB's air it out all the time until he had Klatt back there. He knew he had talented RB's in Cortlen, Brown, Purify, and Calhoun and he stuck with what worked he didn't force his QB's to win games for him. It's clear to us all that Hawk Sr puts the game squarely in Hawk Jr's hands to win, Our DEF may not be the best but they gave us a chance to come back and beat CSU and they gave us a really good chance to beat West Virginia last night. We've got several issues as a football team but it sure doesn't help when your QB's tossing horrible throws that has a chance to be intercepted on every throw he makes.

I just don't see how you can line up a 5'11 QB behind a Offensive of line that's 6'5 and taller. He drops like 10 yards just to toss the ball or rolls out like 15 yards just to get a clear view of "ONE" side of the field. We might as well have our QB line up in a punt formation everytime and throw it from back there atleast he won't have to drop 10 yards.

I think Hodge is the closest comparison to Cody. Not a good quarterback but he had a supporting cast. Moschetti was small like Cody but he could run which Cody... well can't. Out of the QB's from this decade I think Brian White had the most talent and he played very well against Clemson in the Champs Sports bowl. What came out before the 2006 season about his work ethic being crap has to be taken with a grain of salt. Consider the source: hawk. Does anyone trust his ability to evaluate talent anymore?

You got to be kidding me, you'd take him over Pesavento who led the team to a Big12 championship?

Well, Pesavento threw to some guys named Named McCoy and Graham, and had some fellows named Brown and Purify behind him, not to mention an offensive line anchored by an animal named Gurode that pounded defenses into the turf. If there was an average player on that entire O, it was Pesavento.

Hodge was extremely mobile, but could not hit the broad side of a barn. He is the least comparable to Cody, imo.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, but I don't think CU wins the Big 12 with Cody at QB, even on that 01 team. Pesavento may have been average, I'd still consider that better than Cody, who is below average.
