Misti Hawkins Story in the Post

SIAP - but I didn't see this anywhere. Probably the rssbots missed it because it was on the front page of the Post, and not in sports.

Times doubly difficult for CU football wife and mother

One classy lady.

Tough spot for anyone to be in.

Misti has always seemed like a good person. Actually, all of the Hawkins clan seem like good people. It's a big reason why I was so willing for so long to make excuses for the performance of our football team.

Why should any of these ******** care about Misty?

Good question. I hope someone does. I guess because I have been wondering how she is taking the constant attacks on her husband and son, I was interested that a Post reporter was also thinking the same way.

Talk about a tough job - smiling your way through this whole mess. Especially from the sounds of it, she is a small-town girl who would have been happy to stay in a small town and raise her kids there.

What I got from the article is that Misty, Dan, and Cody are pure class, unlike many "posters" on this board. Sorry for that, but I'm pissed.

I thought it was a nice article. Coach Hawkins should probably stop taking subtle jabs at fans with every opportunity he receives though.

look, i think the hawkins' family (all of them) are probably fine people. i don't have the true honest loathing for d.hawkins that i had for fairbanks. fairbanks, imho, was not a good person.

the thing with d.hawkins is that i believe he is in over his head at CU. it is all about wins and losses. and he is on track to be the hc with worst record in CU football history. think about that. ever.

if he'd stop with the rhetoric and just figure out a way to win more ball games, a lot of this nonsense would go away.

i think he'd do much better at a smaller school.

You need to stop generalizing man... You are coming off like a total douche by accusing the whole board of not having empathy for a woman in a rough spot. Stop with this martyr bull**** already

So, I'm a douche?

:yeahthat: we're all deplorable people...

Ya know I like you DBT, but you have GOT to get off Hawkins ****. You are the one that screamed bloody murder for every move that the Rockies skipper made this year and ranted and raved on and on and on. Yet when some of the fans are upset at the team seeming to be sliding backwards-- in year four!!!-- then you get pissed.

****ing get a clue. We are doing nothing more than you were doing to a different coach.

And BTW-- the Rockies made the right move getting rid of Hurdle and moving on. Maybe, just maybe, the Buffs need to do the same.

So, I'm a douche?

No, you aren't.

Which is why it really, really sucks to read **** like your first post in this thread. You know perfectly well that the vast majority of people here deserve better....

The thing is, I read the article. These people are humans. They are classy. But they aren't treated that way. I guess I made the mistake of connecting with them on a human level. Sorry.

The same applies to pretty much everybody here. Guess I made the mistake of remembering that. Sorry.

Oh, I missed the "Junc family getting ripped apart" article? Must have been in the Rocky Mt. News. :sad2:

Is it only wrong to rip on people if it leads to articles in the newspaper about their wives? Or are we just less worthy than Hawkins?????

Give me a ****ing break, DBT. It's like you forget that Hawkins is being made a multi millionaire for doing the job he does. Dealing with heat from the fans and the media is part of it. It's what he and his family signed up for. We're not talking about a little league volunteer coach here but you want us to treat Hawkins like that's what he is.

BTW, Clint Hurdle has a pretty compelling family story too. Moreso, even, than the Hawkins clan. I guess that's why you NEVER criticized him....:rolleyes:

Oh, his family is on the contract?

correct me if i'm wrong, but where did that article rip on their family?

It didn't. It's a flippin' planted puff piece that Bohn's office was probably behind. Got to do whatever it takes to curry sympathy and patience from the fan base.

Fortunately or unfortunately, it comes with the territory of coaching at a Big 12 school. If you want to talk about national championships and Big 12 championships all day long and never expect anyone to call you out on falling short of those goals, you are in over your head. Plain and simple.

I know that the family is probably stressed beyond belief with a disappointing season thus far, but let's try to keep some perspective. They're going to continue living in a nice house and they will not be worrying about the next meal or paycheck.

Do you believe the Hawkins' make huge, life-altering decisions together... like accepting a new job and moving?

Good job ignoring the point I was making and zeroing in on a strawman argument that you're also wrong about.

this is absolutely dead-on. there are millions of good people out of work and we are going to worry about hurting dan's feelings if he gets whacked and sent off with a truckload of OUR cash?

Oh, his family is on the contract?

Hey genius, you think his money helps the family just a little bit?

I love how you've turned fans being critical of Hawkins to hating their entire family. Grow up tender heart.

goddamit Dbt now you are really pissing me off. You've created a situation (aside from the buffs) that me and junc agree on. **** you!

and you aren't a douche, but you are definitely trying to do your best approximation of one with your behavior towards the board lately. There's about 6-10 posters who go over the line towards hawk and you and you somehow get the idea we all hate hawk the person and Cody the person. not true! We hate hawk the coach, and that is totally legitimate! Hell I was one of the biggest sunshine pumpers out there, and one of the last defenders of Cody starting. You know I like the kid. Stop lumping all of us in with a few douchebags lest you become one yourself!
