Not a good hire until you see a couple more years. Right now he's a Hawkins and just holding up a ship left in great shape by Johnson.
You can win football games in a BCS conference running the triple option. The problem as I see it would be in recruiting guys who's goal is the NFL.
Agreed... the option game will put RBs and linemen into the NFL... but the passing game would go away. It would require a large change in the talent scheme in the program. TH could be a good option QB, but the main issue would be OL. To run the option you need big, mean, nasty O linemen that love to run block... I don't see that with the guys here right now. Running the option would be doable, but like I said it would require a few years to get the talent in.

Do you need big linemen to run the option? Considering Navy and Air Force run it, I'm not sure that is the case.
Plus, I remember last year, Johnson threw a converted FB in at RT (250 lbs) because of injuries last year.
Yep.Seriously though, Niumatalolo has came out and said he's not leaving and he loves it in Annapolis.
How about we hire the Temple coach instead, you know, the team that beat Navy the week before they beat ND.

Why? I was under the assumption that Golden was a Virginia guy.
Golden is a PSU alumn. Why? I was under the assumption that Golden was a Virginia guy.

Obviously you were being facetious, but I would seriously look at Golden. He and Niumatalolo are probably in my top 5 or so of guys that we could probably get.
In regard to these guys not being willing to consider CU, of course they would. Guys at the Temples and Navys of the world would be very interested in this CU.
Golden will go to UVA or PSU (if and when that becomes available). He will not consider CU unless those 2 options have been closed to him...
When I was a younger man, I intended to marry Rebbecca Romaine. At some point I realized it might not happen, so I went ahead and married my wife.
Guys going to their alma maters sounds ideal, but in the end career ascension takes front stage with these guys.
Exactly.Golden will go to UVA or PSU (if and when that becomes available). He will not consider CU unless those 2 options have been closed to him...
I am not throwing out speculation..... PSU is very clear in their inner circles about who will be here when Joe dies.
Al won't wait 100%.... thus the Virginia job....
But Al is at a holding pattern here in Philadelphia.
This is the wrong time for CU to go after Al. If Joe died and the PSU job were awarded to Hall, Bradley, or Vanderlinden.... then Al might consider CU.

Pretty much.I am not throwing out speculation..... PSU is very clear in their inner circles about who will be here when Joe dies.
