Re: '10 NC RB Trae Jones

Rivals is reporting that Jones may be visiting this weekend for the TAMU game.

Alternate spelling of first name may be "Trae". It's that way in the Scout reports, but is spelled "Trea" on Rivals and in most online articles.

He's an under the radar guy with a lot of speed who has been tearing it up his senior year.

Senior stats: 160 carries; 1,130 yards; 7.1 ypc; 14 tds

Jones has taken an unofficial to North Carolina this year along with NC State (went to their spring game too). No offers yet. Other schools of interest are Clemson and Wake Forest.

Here are some junior year highlights:

And a nice 90-yard touchdown run (he's a long strider, looks like a track guy imo):

Re: '10 NC RB Trea Jones

Long strider...track guy. Kinda like those track guys at rb, wr, db. Can't coach speed. Looks like he's okay getting the "tough" yards as well.

Still trying to figure out the "yoked" comment........

Scout still doesn't have a profile up.

But they did catch Trea at the UNC-Duke game this past November:

And check out this run (for those of you worried about not having a short yardage back to break tackles):

Looks like Mister Jones to me... Kid could also be a DB as he has some leaps! (Rivals reports a 39-in vertical).

Rivals is showing that he was scheduled to visit this past weekend - did that happen?

Waiting for published confirmation.

While we wait, here's a 9+ minute highlight tape from his junior year:

Trea Jones was originally scheduled to visit for the Texas A&M game, but it didn't work out. He took an official visit to CU this weekend.

I have no idea why he doesn't have a long offer list. Grades? Lack of senior film? I absolutely love the youtube and Rivals video I've seen on him.

Not impressed by his videos, his offers (or lack thereof) or anything else. IMO, he does not get an offer from CU. I'd be very surprised if he did.

I'm not sure if he'll get an offer or not, but I'm not down on this young guy. He needs to learn to drop and deliver a blow when he's about to be tackled - that can be coached. Regardless, has some decent power - on one play a defender made contact at the 49 yardline, then two other defenders tried to tackle him, but he made it to the 45 - 6 yards after initial contact ain't bad.

Welcome to the Buffs, Trea!

Wake Forest-Rolesville running back Trea Jones has committed to play football at Colorado, the senior confirmed to HighSchoolOT.com in a text message on Monday.

Jones was named the HighSchoolOT.com All-OT Team Player of the Year this past season after rushing for nearly 1,700-yards. The team had two backs with more than 1,000-yards on the ground.

The Cougars won the conference championship every season that Jones was there.

This past season, Jones helped lead Wake Forest-Rolesville to an undefeated regular season. He was injured in a third round playoff game against Fuquay, dislocating and fracturing his ankle. He was not able to play against Jack Britt in the 4-AA Regional Final, the final game of the 2009 season for the Cougars.

Jones was also named the conference's Player of the Year.

HighSchoolOT.com will have more from Jones later Monday, so keep checking back to their site: http://www.highschoolot.com/content/blogpost/6832390/

good thing we lost out on mister jones, that **** would have been confusing.

It's like our coaches tried doing a search of the Rivals database in order to find our RBs this cycle and only inputed "Jones" and "RB" in their search criteria. :smile2:

Dislocated AND broken ankle?!?! Ouch, not surprised schools backed off. I hope he's fully recovered (at least by fall 2011).

We needed another RB badly, so definitely glad to have him.

Did not say anything about anything being torn so I would think he would be ready for fall this year.

Really?? I won't pretend I know anything about recovering from something like that, but it sounds brutal for a RB. We know from painful recent experiences, that some RBs have a hard time recovering from ankle injuries. I definitely hope you're right though.
