This is a thread for interesting news from around the Big 12 and nationally.

NU off to a nice start today before the big Owa announcement with two four stars commits, 4* safety Corey Cooper out of Illinois and 4* QB Brion Carnes out of Florida.

OU may be getting a big signing day switch from 4* LB Corey Nelson out of Texas. He has been a longtime commitment to A&M, but has been having second thoughts in recent days. Would be a huge loss for the Aggies.

Safety Sean Parker out of Cali makes a surprise announcement for Washington. Good pickup by the Huskies.

Ooh, that is a nice pickup by Udub. I was really hoping we would get Parker earlier in the cycle, I'm glad he went to Washington though. For whatever reason if we lose recruits to the Pac-10, I prefer it to be to them.

Sounds like 4* athlete Jarrett Fobbs is going to spurn A&M and sign with LSU today. Not going well for the Aggies today. Also some rumblings that Okie Lite might lose 4* DT Calvin Barnett to Arkansas today.

In national news:

-5* WR signed Markeith Ambles signed with USC. Absolutely amazing WR class for the Trojans. Also sounds like they will pick up 5* OT Sentreal Henderson out of Minneapolis today.
-Cal picked up longtime Alabama commit Keenan Allen today. 5* athlete out of North Carolina.

LSU is closing strong. They have picked up two 4* DL today. JC Copeland was a commit to Tennessee, but a visit to LSU must have changed things. The Tigers also land JR Ferguson out of Maryland today.

These last day changes are crazy. Some teams are losing/gaining some pretty good players last minute. OU is cleaning up and up to about 30 signees. TTech is getting grave robbed. If Owa stays home, it sound like they will lose an OL we wanted badly early on to us that fell for the Pirate's pitch.

Sounds like Calvin Barnett to Arkansas is a done deal. Arkansas may also be nabbing 4* athlete Demarco Cobbs late. He is the only member of the Texas recruiting class left unsigned.

EDIT: Should add that Arkansas already nabbed longtime Oklahoma commit Jarrett Lake earlier this morning.

You are talking about Simek right?

You are talking about Simek right?

yes on Simek. If Owa goes elsewhere it will be between us and Mizzou for him since Mizz lost a guy to KU this week. On the good side, if one of the 3 (Carnes, Cooper, Owa) had to go elsewhere, Owa would have been the preferred one from a NEEDS standpoint. From a sar standpoint, Owa was obviously top dog. A QB was critical if you look at what we will have in '11 for QBs. ZERO proven passers and Carnes passing ability makes him 2nd best on the team right now. '11 could have been, and still may be, a nightmare QB play year if none of these current guys figure out how to pass.

Cooper, was a big get because Safety play is huge in Pelini's system.

Simek will be a nice get, if it happens. Our OL DEVELOPED depth was atrcious this year. Two guys playing at the end of the year would have sat with injuries if we had any proven/healthy backups.

Damn 3-star DT Calvin Smith de-committed from Tennessee, visits the Tide, and now picks NEW MEXICO!

Why couldn't we swoop in on that kid?!

New Mexico has picked up some pretty highly regarded kids. What's up down there?

Well connected head coach (Locksley). Maryland, Florida and Illinois were his last stops (Offensive Coordinator by the end). He was one of the Zookster's best recruiters.

What is the inside scoop on Sani Fuimaono or Foi Foi, any indication where they will go or have signed?

I'm going to go ahead and not be too sorry for the Aggies, who poached our guy. Sure a couple of disappointments, but they still have a nine 4*, thirteen 3* and one 2* class. Sounds pretty good from our perspective.

UCLA blows my mind with how little they accomplish with what they have. Them and A&M have the best possible situations and just piss it away.
