Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Anthony Wright will be able to play football any more. His knee, as we had feared, will not allow him to continue his football career.
I always thought Wright was a cool guy who put the team first. He was also a guy who showed rare athleticism. Truly a shame.
For Anthony, I just hope that CU is taking care of him and that he's going to get his degree.
For CU football, this leaves another hole on the depth chart between our senior CB starters and their freshmen backups. We've got Junior Jonathan Hawkins, but he hasn't shown much beyond special teams excellence. We've also got the RS-Sophomore transfer from Georgia, Makiri Pugh, who we hope can be a CB in our system but had been a Nickel/Safety/Cornerback at UGA. I believe we're going to need to find another transfer or look to the JUCO ranks this recruiting cycle. I like our freshmen, but we need competition and experience at the position.
Thoughts?
