Student asks AD to be reimbursed for cost of going to Cal game...

Man, Plati's response was full of jerkitudiness. Lighten up, Dave!!

As for the kid's assertion that student fees pay for the athletic program, well, maybe smart assed Dave should have kindly pointed out that the AD is, for the most part, self sustaining rather than take a stupid shot at the kid.

But, still, a very effective protest by the young man.

Kudos to the kid...it's in the papers that the students want Hawk gone too.

How much in activities fees does CU students pay per credit hour?

Wow. I'm sure this kid wasn't actually expecting his money back, but instead looking to make his point that our CU Buffs are an embarrassment to students, alums and anyone who likes the program.

While Oregon's coach actually gave that fan his money back, it was his gesture showing that he agreed that his team was unprepared, out-coached & out-performed, and most importantly, that he, the head coach of Oregon wasn't happy with it and was going to do something about it that really had an impact on that fan - and look where they ended up last year...no biggie, just the Rose Bowl!

I guess what I take away from Plati's surly response is that he is either completely unaware of the dump CU took at Cal, or that he's just totally ok with it. Either way I find that disappointing and unacceptable.

How bad will it get before our athletically-apathetic university gets its feces coagulated??

Plati's response was full of condescending douchbaggery and, in my opinion, proved he missed the point entirely. The kids protest was obviously symbolic in nature.

I agree...Plati's response was unacceptable. I hope the admin at CU let him know that it was unacceptable.

Plati has got PR down to a science. "You take the good with the bad."

Where's the good been for the last five years?

I'm really starting to think it's time we get a new SID along with a new football coach. Plati's response was condescending and rude. The kid is making a point, or trying to, anyway. In responding the way he did, Plati basically proved the kids point. Nice move, jackass.

Yeah, other than Bohn, the AD / Football program seems to have developed either an unfounded arrogance or have gone into super defensive mode. Either way, Plati came across as an idot. I lost a ton of respect for him just based on his response.

That response was unacceptable, i am no PR rocket surgeon but couldn't this easily be handled by saying something to the effect of:
A.) We really appreciate Louis and all the students and alumni who came out to the game, we understand that in these times the choice to come and watch CU play on teh road can be a difficult one.
B.) that game was bull-****
C.) student fees and tuition dont actually pay for athletics, in fact we write a check to the university for 9million a year, the highest in the Big12.

Or just do some sort of symbolic gesture instead of basically asking him who the **** he thinks he is. I´d be guessing that he has student tickets already, but they are basically giving away the Hawaii tickets for free, so why not give him one as a token gesture?

this is a great idea, give him season ticket to next year.

Sounds like the same old Plati, to me.

i have a former student who did the sports show at 1190, he said Plati was nearly always kind of a dick to them. went out of his way to make them aware they were a waste of his precious time. Barney, on the other hand, he said hated doing their small time show but was friendly about it, at least.

i've met the guy a couple times and he seemed OK. i agree his comment here is lame-o-saurus rex and spiteful.

Yep. Par for the course with DP. He pulled this same chippy **** when people wore light blue last year. At some point, he needs to roll with the punches instead of getting all bent out of shape. Bitter old man.

Exactly. Last year it was DP saying there were maybe 50 fans wearing blue. He needs to be fired like everyone else. Clean the effing house out and start brand new.

Plati needs to be more careful as a representative of the AD, but not me - These kind of stunts really irritate me, yeah we suck this is not news. The fans are upset...no s**t. F**k off kid, buyer beware.

sounds like Plati was just kicked out of line at the "Country Buffet"....
sheesh ...he needs to grow a pair

Where did you find that kind of information? That makes me wonder about the 2012 Pac-10 move instead of the 2011 Pac-10 move.

I agree with Plati on this one. You just don't say it to the press.

Plati's attitude is exactly what is wrong with CU. There are a select few at CU who, for some reason, believe that they work in an ivory tower, where they are always right, and everyone else is always wrong.

Now before I go any further, let me say, I think the kid who is asking for his money back is all sorts of douche. You made a road trip to California, probably had a great time in everything EXCEPT the game, and you are pissed? (And you really, truly, honestly believed a Dan Hawkins coached football team had a chance of WINNING that game?!?! please!)

I do NOT think CU should give him his money back. I don't think CU should give the kid anything. They are exactly right that there's no guarantee on any ticket or any game or anything like that.

But the "that doesn't even deserve a response" attitude is what pisses me off. Like hell it doesn't deserve a response!!! It deserves a response of ****canning that worthless head football coach for doing the same exact thing he's done for four straight years. It deserves a response of "We share your frustration, but greatly appreciate that you made the trip to California to follow your Buffs." Mike Bohn has worked very hard the past few years to develop the "Your team" ideology -- and this dumbass who lives in the ivory tower shatters it all in one phrase with his "that doesn't deserve a response." Rather than acknowledge a fan's frustrations, while encouraging his continued support, Plati ****s on him from the get-go, as though he's some kind of lesser person. He's a fan, you dip****!

I lost all respect for Plati 15 years ago, and he never disappoints with his holier-than-thou attitude about CU sports.

I agree with Plati on this one. You just don't say it to the press.
Why? What office does the kid hold? Is he bound by some AD device? You might as well blame the Camera for the piece. Like others on here I thought Plati's response was ill-conceived especially when the AD should be doing everything in its power to promote unity between the student body and AD.

Damn.... $400??? that kid has no idea how to pad expenses in the real world!
