we haven't been a big time school as of late... let them have their fun... if you are that damn embarrassed turn the game off after the clock hits zeroRushing the field is for big wins - and when you're supposed to be a big time college program, big wins are not against 1-3 teams.
I care, and so do many other fans. I'm with wispy, and I've been saying this for a long time. We have some of the dumbest fans around. I remember as a student trying to explain to people to stop yelling when we're on offense. Our fans just aren't real football fans - there's no knowledge of the game for most of them. The games are just an excuse to get belligerently drunk for many. While this may be true at most campuses around, you don't see them get really loud when the offense is facing a third down. ...and that idiotic "key" ringing for opponent third downs is another dumb thing. Jingling your keys is nowhere close to as loud as clapping and yelling...
Rushing the field is for big wins - and when you're supposed to be a big time college program, big wins are not against 1-3 teams. Sure Georgia is a name school, but that doesn't mean they're a good team this year. Rushing the field also typically happens when a small time school over achieves and beats a better team - e.g. underdog wins. Our idiot fans rushing the field all the damn time makes us look like a small time school that wasn't supposed to win (YES...I know we suck right now...but that doesn't mean our overall program does). It puts us in a class below what we're supposed to be. I can't stand it. It makes us look like amateurs. 2001 Nebraska was the last time we should have rushed the field, because it was a HUGE game...and the previous handful of defeats from Nebraska were just heartbreaking.

There is no way you could have that kind of knowledge unless you were educated at some point on the east coast. You are the man... well said. When I went to CU, I made it my duty to teach the locals and Californians how to be a good, knowledgable football fan.
I will be the lone Eagle fan cheering McNabb today at the Linc....
I also highly doubt your statement that student support is "so much better now than it was 10 years ago." I was a student 10 years ago, and we supported the program pretty well. Were we amazing, no. But, I think we were at least supportive as the kids are now.
I have no big problem with rushing the field because the game was so tight in the fourth quarter and the win was unexpected with the late fumble. I have a bigger problem with the older fans I saw leaving with 4 minutes left and the game within a field goal. On the other hand, starting a wave when WE have the ball in the fourth quarter does qualify as "dumb".
I love that we rush the field, these are kids playing a sport they love and don't get paid for it. For the players it has to be a blast when the students rush the field to go celebrate with them. I say rush the field after every win against a BCS school!
There it is. East coast bias!
Yes, let's rush the field after beating iowa state, baylor, kansas etc... SMALL TIME.
I hope we do. What is wrong with kids rushing the field and the players having fun? These are not paid athletes.
You say tomato, fuskers say tuhmater, you say knowledge, ****ers say nollidge. You call it bias.... I call it knowledge
