Miles heads the list of skill position players that Prep Colorado (Scout Network) predicts will break out in 2012: http://hscolorado.scout.com/2/988150.html

Other guys on the list:

Zach Jones (TE - Thunder Ridge)
John Greer (RB - Mullen)
Joe Hansley (RB/WR - Highlands Ranch)
Christian Thomas (RB - Mountain Vista)
Caleb Flack (QB - D'Evelyn)
Chris Page (RB - Chaparral)
Isaiah Hendrix (RB - Denver East)

Miles looks to be one of the best QB prospects to come out of CO in a long time.

Priority #1 for the 2012 recruiting class.

Not so sure.

A high priority yes but I would not say #1. I think both Berglund and Sherry are going to be excellent quality prospects. We already have Hirschmann who still has four years of eligibility.

Idealy you have one quality QB for each class and if Miles keeps developing he could certainly be that guy but we have other needs that are much more important to address including on the D-line and at DB as well as RBs with some power.

Additionally this team needs a major infusion of speed at all positions, that has to be a priority.

If you can land a blue chip talent at QB, you do. Nothing is more important.

I think he's going to be a big time player....has the size and athleticism to become a can't miss recruit

I'll be interested to see how he thrives next year without Rayshon Williams to catch all of his passes (since he pretty much did catch them all)....will probably see more from his legs I would imagine

Cyler Miles is at the US Army Underclassman Combine this week. He clocked a 4.47 forty and nailed a 37 inch vertical.

Also, Cal offered. But it doesn't look like they want him as a quarterback.

I know it is early - but how are we stacked up here? The Mullen kids seem mostly disinterested in staying home and building the home-town team.

Good question. I'm interested in hearing what our guru's say about this one.

I'm not really a guru, (not that the disclaimer is needed - it's pretty obvious), but I think we have to remember that "the Mullen kids" are just a bunch of individuals who make up their own minds about where to go to school. They have the push and pull of peer pressure, family opinion, academic goals and ability ... we just can't lump them all into one basket and say "Mullen kids think this way " because they don't.

Currently, we have these former Mullen players on the roster: Allen, Matt, Conte, Mario, Daniels, Shawn, Givens, Bryce, and Ford, Josh.
Recent Mullen buffs include: Burney, Benjamin, Duren, Jake, Robinson, Stephone, and Daniels, Brian .
And we have current commit Brady Daigh on board from Mullen this year. There could be others, have to wait and see.

We do okay with Mullen players. We can do better, but it's not like there is a conspiracy out there against CU. I do think the recent coaching staff made some blunders with recruits -- Mullen and otherwise -- so we are going to have to have some faith that the new guys are able to present CU and gameday atmosphere in a better light. I think they will.

As a comparison, does anyone happen to know some Mullen grads we didn't sign who are playing well for other BCS-level schools now?

Onyeali was the freshman of the year in the Pac-10 for ASU.

We have a good shot at Miles. We are actually in good shape for pretty much every top 2012 prospect in the state. Not saying we will land all of them, but I think we might do our best job at keeping them home in a long while.

Miles was named the QB MVP of the US Army Combine. (Biggest combine for juniors). Can you say 5 star! We need to get this guy.

He is definitely a national recruit now. We need to land him. Not only because he is a very good QB prospect, but also we might have to face him regularly if he spurns us for a Pac-12 school.

Not sure if he will be a 5* (never know with these things), but sure seems like he will be in the top 50 at the very least.

Has he given any indication as to a favorite? I know it's very early in the process. It would be nice to get a verbal right out of the gate, though. It would help with recruiting some other guys.

Doubt he is an early verbal. He wants to take several unofficial visits during the spring and summer. Would not surprise me if he decided just before his senior year though.

If he wants to play QB (and I think he does), it would be very hard for him to wait longer than that.

True. Guess it is a little hard to gauge what his commitment plans are right now, his stock has skyrocketed in the last few months. That tends to change things, so while he may want to take several unofficials right now, he might have to change that timeline.

Some speculation about Miles in the Willingham thread. Personally, I think it is really hard to get a read on Miles right now because the kid is not yet getting hyped like he will in the coming months. Still think we will be right in the thick of it.

I tired of being in the thick of it. We need to land a blue chip QB if we ever want to be relevant again.

I don't disagree at all. If we cannot get Miles, we better find a way to lock down a true blue chip QB. Being close does not really count for much in recruiting.
