Ranked on MOnday?

Helps that Temple just got blown out. They were around #23. We probably need a bit more help.

And as I've said before, I hope we don't get ranked. I want the team to feel disrespected.

True, but you have to seriously consider it when you win 3 straight against solid programs, win your first back to back games against ranked teams in school history etc. I understand the feeling disrespected part though.

Great win! What a crowd.

We haven't yet been in the 'Other receiving votes' category yet so getting ranked on Monday might be a stretch.

What impressed me this past week....

Mizzou - we out rebound them

Kstate - win on the road, Burks/Higgins have sub-par games, out rebound them

Okie Lite - Shoot 37% and still win, out rebound them, sell out the game

Other than Roberson, this is the same team that sucked last year. Good athletes excel in a motion offense. I think BZ's Princeton approach stifled the athletic ability of this team. If you have the horses, let them run. It's fun to be into bball again.

Mizzou - we out rebound them

not surprising, we shot lights out so they didn't have many chances to grab a defensive rebound.

this is starting to get strange, play crappy on the road and still win against a ranked team?????

Okie Lite - Shoot 37% and still win, out rebound them, sell out the game
we played like absolute garbage the majority of the game, yet grinded out a win. This team is special.

Should be, but probably won't be. Beat kNU and we should be. kNU has great defense though... will be a fun matchup.

We finished the first half 3-17 and finished strong.

I've wanted CU to be a basketball school for over a decade, is Boyle going to make that happen? I really hope so.

:yeahthat: I think we'll be in the receiving votes category, which is a good thing. They need to worry about taking care of business this week, and then worry about being ranked.

I don't think we should be ranked. Yes, we beat three good teams in a row, but that's the only thing we've done all season.

The only thing we need to worry about right now is beating Nebraska. Rankings will happen if you keep winning. One game at a time.

Coaches poll is in and we are....#32 with 23 votes...#25 Arizona has 60 votes...amazingly K-State is still ranked at #24

Seems about right. Just have to keep taking care of business. Our remaining schedule is daunting, especiall after NU and OU. Its going to be very tough. Tad Boyle said, after the OSU game, that we will not play a more physical team the rest of the year. Maybe that bodes well.

having kjsu and mizzery ranked helps our RPI. And note that Georgia is in the "others receiving votes" group as well.

KSU and Mizzou play tonight in Columbia so one of them will drop. I suspect KSU has been getting some benefit of the doubt for the December suspensions but they are at full strength now so an L may drop them out.

technically, being ranked and the RPI are unrelated.

The non-ranking should keep kids motivated.

The best way to earn respect is by taking it out on Nebraska.

ESPN/USA Today puts us at #32. If the committee agrees, that's good enough for the tourney.

We've jus got to keep winning and this will take care of itself, though.

Let's win the next two and then keep K-U in check and this will be a top 25 team. I know the NU OU games seem winnable, but this team needs to totally come out and dominate these teams on the road to really prove how far they have come and to completely exorcise the road monkey that they have been carrying around.

I just saw this posted on the Scout board and it perfectly sums up my thoughts (because I wrote it :smile2:):

Puts us at #32 in the nation. That's a good ranking.

It's high enough to say we've played our way into the tourney and would have a better than even chance of winning a game there.

That's where we are. Win roadies at Nebraska and Oklahoma this week to get to 16-4 (5-0) and we'll be ranked around #20-25 with the Kansas game up next at the Keg.

Maybe a lot more important for this team is being 3-0 in conference, 14-4 overall. We have 13 games left on the schedule, all in conference. Going 6-7 over the remainding games would leave us with 19 wins and a 9-7 conference record. That would probably put us in the tourney and would guarantee us at worst the NIT. Go 7-6 and a tourney bid would virtually be locked up since a big 12 team with 20 wins and being 4 games over .500 in conference is almost guaranteed a bid.

A 9-7 conference record would give us a 20-11 overall record. We were 11-4 OOC. I'm afraid it's going to take more than 20 wins for this team to get into the tourney, though. If they end up 9-7 in conference I would guess it would take 2 wins in the conference tourney to sew up a tourney bid.
