8,000 student season tickets sold?

JRK1212

Troll
Im a current cu student. Today I went to the ticket office to buy a single game student
ticket for the KU game and was told that they were not selling single game tickets because
8,000 student season tickets had been sold this year. Does this sound strange to anyone
else considering that the student section only seats about 3,000 people. Are they planning
on having 16,000 people at CES for the KU game? Also, if this is true why has they student
section only been half full for almost every game this year.

Shoulda just bought season tickets. Aren't they ridiculously inexpensive?

Sounds like somebody didn't know what he/she was talking about to me. No way have they sold 8,000 student tickets.

I was just as suprised. I kept telling the guy that that didint make any sense but he insisted that it was true. The way he explained it was that they assume most students wont show up for the games so they oversell them. They are anticipating a high turnout for this game so they wouldnt sell single game tickets. Still seems strange especially since they have sold single game tickets for every other game this year in addition to all of those season tickets. Again if 16,000 people with tickets show up what are they supposed to do.

that would mean that 1 in 3.75 students have basketball tickets out of 30,000 total enrollment. which is ridiculous.

now, more likely, is that the ticket office does weird things for KU games. like only sell single tix on the day of the game, etc. they've always done that.

Guys im telling you this guy said 8,000 STUDENT season tickets. He repeated himself several times and got angry when I argued with him about it.

If this many students have season tickets, then it shouldn't be hard to find 1 student that wants to unload his/hers, right?

The ticket is electronic (on the Buff One Card). So unless you look like your 20 your s.o.l.

I meant that you should do it.

And, yes, I'm holding up pretty well for my age. Every now and then, I still get carded. Thanks for asking. :smile2:

He may have said this, but either he meant to say 3000, or he is just an idiot who got flustered and refused to recognize his own stupidity. Even if they sold 3000 student tickets, they are probably still overselling the section. The students have 3 (4?) sections (out of 24), and the band is allotted half of one of those.

Maybe I can clear this whole situation up...
Remember how you can purchase Football and Basketball season tickets combined as a "Sports Pass?" Welllll Folsom Field sure holds more than 8000 students so my guess is that they may have actually sold that many BBall season tickets as well. KU games have never been available as single game tickets because they use it as a draw to make you buy 4 games or more...even for students like me and you

$50 a ticket for KU game

I am a student....went to the ticket office yesterday 1/19 and and they said they are selling individual tickets for $50 a pop. I rather watch it from the big screen at my house.

Dude no way, idiots working in the CU ticket office. :smile2:

8,0000 would fill the seating on both the east and west parts of the arena. There'd only be the student and GA sections left.

Student Tickets are not $50 a pop so clearly he is selling you different ticket. I am not claiming the 8000 makes sense in a logical sort of way, only that it makes sense when you remember it is CU's ticket office we are dealing with

Hey just go back tomorrow. Hopefully you can get someone that knows what they are talking about!

Alright guys ive got some clarification. Whoever posted this earlier is correct. When you buy football student season tickets you have the option of paying and extra $30 and getting a "cu sports pass" which gives you free admission to all CU sporting events including mens basketball. I would guess they have about 10,000 student tickets for football (which where sold out even though the section was often half full) and most of these people decided to get the sports pass as well. Hence the 8,000 "season tickets". I feel f***ing stupid. Should have paid the extra 30 bucks. I would still like to know what they plan on doing if too many students show up.

Maybe he meant they'd sold season tickets for the year 8,000 which is only 5,089 years away.

Where do you buy student tickets?

Ive been to about 20 bball games and for eveyone prior to this, including the sold out oklahoma st. game, they sold the tickets at the CES prior to tip off. It was they only place to get them. Not just are they not doing that now, but no email of any kind has been sent out saying that they wont sell single game tickets. There will be a couple thousands dissipointed students who show up at the CES expecting buy tickets for the game.

ALways get the student FB and BB season tickets best deal around. When I was a student it was $35 for both.

Huh. I always wondered what Big XII basketball officials did when they weren't working games. Apparently they work in bars and liquor stores in Boulder....

They have a cap number and will turn away students after that number is hit. I suggest showing up early.

Hey one of the guys on the facebook event for this game has been in contact with the athletic department the past week trying to set up a "wear black campaign" He got a message from them today saying that they will turn away students. Sounds like they do waaaayyyy oversell these games anticipating students won't show up. Lots of people are going to be unhappy Tuesday night.
