Adam Munstertieger recruting info (from B.C. Radio)

Im held up sick, so for those of you who missed it, I thought id give of summary of what Adam said on buffalo chips radio. Since the show was/is avaliable to everyone at no cost I assume this is alright to post here. Im paraphrasing Adam's words.

On the current commits:

Brady Daigh: Physical, run stopping middle LB. Most underated prospect in the state.

Marc Mustoe: Always wanted to be a buff, originally committed to UCLA because he didint like the former staff.

Woodson Greer: Was a ASU lean, but was wowed by Boulder and the staff.

Sherrard Harrington: Like his athleticism, play making ability. Iowa offered but lost interest in him.

Stevie Dorman: Like many of us, doesnet understand why he didint get any other offers. Sees him as a solid 3 star prospect with good upside.

Brent Burnette: "Game manager" type. Staff wanted him to help fill out the position/provide some veteren insurance. Thinks he will push Hansen/Hircshman but probably not start.

K.T whatever: Has to bulk up, but he really likes his tape. Was solid on Boise St. but was wowed on his OV here.

Nelson Spruce: Likes him ALOT. Thinks that bigger programs were scared away by the fact that he is white.

Alex kelly: True center prospect, may be needed early on.

Other random notes:

We went hard after several RB's including Lungai and that guy committed to zona but missed out. EB getting a late start has hurt.

Lucien has serious interest in us, but will be hard to get given his offer sheet.

Thinks we have a better shot then people think of landing Willingham. He enjoyed his visit and may not even visit A&M. Will come down to signing day.

Todd Peat jr agreed to a visit after doing an in home with our coaches but after meeting with coaches from a different school later in the day changed his mind. He still may come out for a visit. There are no other DT prospects that we are after that Adams is aware of. He says that it is the hardest position to find good players.

Lake koa kai's favorites are nebraska, oregon and stanford but we are still in the mix.

Pauley Asiata is basically down to us and Washington.

He thinks we have a good chance of getting Juda Parker who he likes a lot.

Suggests that the Hawaiin's could be a "package" deal. They know one another and may want to stick together. It helps that kt is already committed and that they are visiting the same weekend.

Doesent sound like we have much of a shot at kellen jones, cam jackson, onwuasor or wadood.

Junior Pomee and Akeem Gonzalez may visit.

Mentioned that a lot of guys are excited by the NFL experience on the staff.

There was no mention of peters, mcclure, chris bryant, jafus gaines, michael thomas, or branden Jackson.

Said we are looking at kickers but dont want to add one just for the sake of it, only if they find the right guy.

If I left anything out or was wrong about anything feel free to add/correct it.

They're looking for someone to be their basketball guru so they can run more shows during hoops season. If anyone is qualified and wants that gig, you should contact them. (But not before contacting me about becoming our new mod for the Basketball & Basketball Recruiting forums.)

Thanks for including those links, I should have done that.

We have several members on here who know college hoops as well or better than I do. And a lot of people with a better memory for CU basketball history. This is only my second year as a CU season ticket holder and I can't remember watching a CU basketball game before Chauncey. I was much more of a Big East guy growing up in New Jersey.

Mick seems to know his hoops.

" There are no other DT prospects that we are after that adam is aware of". Um, cormier, simmons, heyward etc...No reason to think embree, tui aren't after some dt's. They can NOT have a recruiting class without at least 1 .

You hate my rants now, go ahead, don't sign a DT this class and continue the ****ing pathetic recruiting at this position and it's going to be like full metal jacket drill sgt...

We'll see what transpires the next few weeks but I would hate to think that this new staff of "great" recruiters can't get 1 effing decent 3 star dt in here. If so, they are no better than the staff that just left. Pure BS

I know your stance on DTs syko, and I totally agree, but we have to be patient. This staff has really only been recruiting for a month or so at this point, that's simply not enough time. Also, the previous staff literally didn't even bother recruiting last season, so we weren't even in on some kids already. I want some big nasty DTs too, but so does every other school in the country. I hope they can find a project type of guy this year, that they can build down the road, but next year DT has to be a seriously pressing need.

The new coaching staff is pulling in some qulity recruits, especially with the time frame that they have been given.

This is just the foundation, if we can put together a decent year and get to a bowl game I can't wait to see what this staff is going to put together next year!

There are plenty of dt's left for tui and staff to get. I understand they came late to the party but nobody can prove to me that they can't recruit a decent 3 star DT, not 6, just 1 to cu. No excuses.

I think that is fair. I'm a little underwhelmed by the signings so far to be honest.

Some won't admit it but I think people thought this staff would be doing a little better. I like the class mostly, other than the obvious. I think it's going to be even better after this next weekend.

I thought they would close the borders and land atleast one whale. I guess I expected too much.

Well maybe I just have much lower expectations than you guys

I think they're doing a pretty good job. The Berglund situation sucked, but it sounds like he wasn't really the type of kid we want leading the program. We still have a very good shot at Willingham and I don't think there was much else to get in state this year except Austen, who seems pretty into Stanford.

There are four 4* recruits coming on visits in the next two weeks, that's 4 more than I thought they would get in on. I suppose all I'm saying is, before we pass judgment on their coaching and recruiting ability, give them a full season of each to properly gauge their ability. If it's this time next year and we have like 1 DT committed, I'll be calling for some heads. This year, I'm just happy to get some decent players in the fold.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Apparently some of the folks here forgot how sad it was around this time last year when we were competing with schools from the WAC for players and weren't even being mentioned as favorites.

I agree with most of what you said but we have to stop blowing off not getting dt's. No excuses, none, notta, zip. I'm going to post a list of every DT 3* and above still undecided and you will find that there is no way in hell, cu can't sign one of these guys. I've heard this bs every year for the last 7-8 years, i'm done.

you guys need to be realistic, this year is a basic write off. So long as we can address some areas of need with some decent 3 star guys and maybe pull one rabbit out of the hat we should be more than happy.

I agree. Plus its not like the last staff was doing the job they were getting paid for. The fact that we weren't recruiting for the second half of the year really hurts.

I think we are getting some pretty solid players so far. Better than I expected given the limited time to recruit. However, I am right with Syko, we are really hurting for good DTs and have been for a long time. We need at least one this year. My only optimism is that Bandison seemed to have no clue how to coach the DTs we have. Maybe our new coaches can do better with what we already have.

Staff has been doing great IMO. I expect better next season, but they're doing great for only have a month.

Everything I'm hearing is that we'll be pretty blown away with some of the guys visiting on the final weekend.

I want some big nasty DTs too, but so does every other school in the country.

Slick Rick Doesn't at UCLA :smile2: but he never has had an interest building the lines.

In all seriousness I agree with Syko that getting a solid DT should be a top priority and I think this staff will get us at least 1 this cycle. Build both lines, win the line of scrimmage and win games seems like what Embree will do.

Staff has done a solid job, but would like to see them close a true blue chipper before signing day. Think they can, but you never know with the really late start.

Next year you should be able to judge the class in two important areas-QB and DL.

Sleepers this weekend... blue chippers the next huh

I don't know that I'd call guys like Lucien, Asiata and Parker "sleepers". Those guys are studs.

But next weekend we're hosting Jackson plus a number of guys that Ringo, AZ and Adam have been dropping hints about being guys we'll all be very excited about. We're going to be trying to poach from some major programs, supposedly. Looks like 7-9 visitors and I only "know" about the 2 I have posted.

I'm 100% in agreement with syko. Each year we come up with an excuse why next year is going to be different. Have we not learned the key to a great defense starts up front? Most of you will say yes, but thanks for stating the obvious Stampede. Well I ask you, if it's so obvious, why do we repeatedly accept the lack of success recruiting this area? I'm all for drinking the cool-aid and believe our future is bright, but we're never going to compete let alone win a NC without having 1 or 2 dominant DTs.
