Has anyone heard anything about Nick Downing? He's a big safety from Grandview. 6' 1", 205. Got a letter from the Buffs recently.

He was an undersized linebacker last year, Nik, and has been moved to his more natural safety position. Very aggressive and a Buff through and through.

Grandview beat Mullen tonight 12-7. Nick had a great game.

I'm having trouble finding anything. There was only one photo I could locate, but it was an after-game shot when he was really upset after Mullen beat Grandview in the 5A playoffs last year. I don't want to use that one.

As far as his film goes, I'm pretty impressed.

Spoke with Nick's dad last night, and what they're expecting right now is a PWO offer. He's going to get a few offers from D1 (Duke among them) but wants to be a Buff.

That'd be sweet. I wouldn't be opposed at all to getting some kids that played safety in high school and we move them to LB. Fast + cover skills is always a plus in linebackers.

Or have a safety with LB attitude. Let us go to five DBs without giving up a lot against the run, also force some turnovers with big hits in the defensive backfield.

Nick's played both linebacker and safety, and he's still growing in terms of both height and weight. He reminds me of a bigger (and maybe meaner) Parker Orms. Nick definitely plays with a nasty edge.
