UT's Darius White sulking - speculation he might decide to transfer

He's a sophomore who has a redshirt available to him. Kennedy recruit. Hmmmm.

Edit: He was a 4* or 5* with all the services and considered a top 10 WR in the 2010 class.

How about getting a couple of big linemen to sulk a little bit as well? I don't mind WRs but we have some other positions that we could use help at.

Also lets get it done before we have to deal with rules about transfering in conference. As much as I don't want UT in the PAC I get a feeling it may be happening, love to beat them using their own recruits.

Typical UT, lose a top recruit in Connor Wood because they bury him on the depth chart behind a golden boy in Gabbert. Later figure out that the golden boy can't play after losing the guy buried on the depth chart.

I don't know if Wood can play or not but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he can. For a perfect example of QB history at UT just look up Sims, Chris. and his failure in big games while a guy who had less talent but had shown to be better under pressure (Applewhite) was on the bench.

I watched part of that UT - BYU game with a room full of UT fans. I've got to admit that listening to their insights to all the disfunction in Austin was the best part of my Saturday (that and Paul Richardon). Mac's losing it. Seriously, who rotates quarterbacks every 3 plays in a game you're losing. I'm not going to hold Darius' sulking against him. I'd be sulking too if I was stuck on that train wreck for the next 3 years.

We may not have one B-12 championship game if Applewhite had started.

Hold the phone on this one....... normally I would jump on this with this one BUT.....his issue might be developmental. Now I'm not 100% sure but I've been reading on this one today and what's been said is that he's not completing his passes. They gave him some reps last year and this year and things haven't been going well. Some say its not all DW's fault and that some may be on the QB they just replaced.......but I do know in watching the games last year he struggled.

"It seems as though the major issue is routes, our guys can't seem to run their routes properly. We have a true freshmen come in and is already our leading WR in week 1. I would hope Davis, White, Harris, Hales, etc...would put the work needed to perform and contribute. I have no idea what Mike Davis issue is...too much talent not to perform."

"Let's be honest, Darius White and Mike Davis haven't lived up to the hype they generated. Mike reminds me of Malcolm Williams, plenty of potential, just couldn't get past the drops at critical times. Darius White just can't play. When he gets his opportunity, he drops or fumbles the ball. I'd really like to see Miles out there, ASAP!"

This was the consensus of a few. So not sure if it's just bitter UT fans or if something is not clicking for him and he needs more time.

Interesting. This kid keeps reminding me of Clemons.

For his HS he was pretty much the team for football and basketball. So not sure if not being the star is hurting him. I know he was tweeting about leaving UT last year but I guess it didn't happen.

Thanks for the info, moett.

The good thing for the Buffs here is that the same people (Wood and Kennedy) who give us a connection and opportunity if he were to transfer are two of the people who would know best whether we should be interested.

Very true!

I don't see a downside to getting a talented kid to transfer. At the very least more talent pushes players on the team and helps bring other talent.

yeah, but he may not be talented, five star rating aside. We have 3 very nice WR recruits coming in next year, so no need to take a flyer on him. Pass.

I get the more-talent-breeds-competition thing. I understand having more connections and links to texas hs football.

However, I don't get the impression that he's thinking about coming to CU because he wants to be here, but because he's not satisfied with where he's at. Count me in the group that would rather have someone who really wants to be a Buff, first and foremost.

Nothing against the young man. I just don't see this ending well.

Then you wouldn't want any transfer ever basically. No one transfers because they see some other school and are like "oh, I didn't pick them out of high school but now I see the light and they're so good I'm going to go sit out a year because I love them so much." Kids transfer because there is something wrong with the place they are. Maybe they're buried on the depth chart, maybe their team changed their offense and they no longer fit the scheme or maybe they just need a fresh start but no matter what they are never satisfied with where they are.

He won't be a true freshman like them, it will fill out some of the wholes in our classes. Would you rather chance it with Jarrod Dardon or whomever else we have as an upperclassman?

Don't know a thing about this guy, but based on the measurables I'd take him! Wouldn't mind picking up Chris Martin for the D-line too. That said, I'd put the chances of getting either of them at less than 25%.

My understanding is that he would have to sit out next season if he chooses to transfer, as this season has already started. If that's the case, our current wr recruits would either be redshirt freshman or true sophs by the time he was able to play. Plus PRich would be a senior and you would also have mcCulloch, Spruce, Vincent and Canty. In my opinion, wide receivers are born, not made. You can play the young guys without much negative consequence to the team.

Nor Cal - I hear what you are saying but there has to be a difference with someone who hasn't gotten a fair shake or chance to transfer to someone who may have gotten their shot and things may not be working out. I'm gonna do more research on this but so far, if true, he got reps under BK and he's getting some reps under the new coach...........if you are coming up with the same results...

I'm just saying. But I will see if I can get film to prove yea or neh. Cause I'm always down for a kid getting a shot (been thru drama of my own with this issue) but just making sure he's coming in wanting to give his all and not because he thinks he's coming into a weaker team that will let him be the star. There's a difference.

I would bring him in if we have a chance. I like the idea of using a scholarship on him vs. a project OL anyway. We could redshirt him and he would be a nice upperclassmen to have with the group of young WR's we have added the last couple of years.

Has anyone heard how the progress on the WR we took a flyer on who had the leg injury. I think he was an Iowa commit before the injury. Vincent may have been his last name. I am to lazy to look right now. Any info would be nice. For some reason I think he is going to be a decent player for us.

Vincent saw his first game action on Saturday. There's a chance that he develops into our 2nd playmaker option at WR by the 2nd half of the season. I don't think he's on the level of Richardson, but he could come on late like we saw with P-Rich last year.
