Not exciting but may be the best thing for the program. As long as we don't repeat the Montana State, Eastern Washington fiascos and actually use these games as development games I'm good with it.

We will have a lot of young players on the roster getting significant playing time. A game in which these guys aren't overmatched against BCS level upperclassmen makes some sense.

Looks like Bohn is listening to the fans and learning. Hopefully buying out the Fresno State game is next!

The P12 money is already paying off. If I understand it correctly we pay these patsies to come and play us and in the past since we couldnt afford it we chose Ohio st instead.

I am all for easing it up for a coupla years to get some swagger back, but I hope this does not become a pattern otherwise we are just like the nubs. On another note did we only have 8 conference games in the B12? That does change the math a little since we have 9 now.

Not really. We already have one chump built in with CSU as they are pretty much the worst div 1a team. If we can get out of that CSU game, we need to do it.

In addition to the CSU game, we should schedule one premier team and one mid/low level bcs team.

Don't see a problem in scheduling the OOC like the Nubs or any other powerhouse does. Seems to work for them.

What does this mean for bowl-eligibility...?

Used to be you could only count one win over an FCS team every two years. My understanding is that they changed it to allow them to count each year, (called it the Nebraska rule.)

There is a big problem with that. It has been a point of pride that we play better competition than those clowns (at least for me). That is how things have been done and I think it is a sign of a (real) class program. We play the best to be the best kinda thing.

Why do we need to? We need sure wins in the OOC schedule.

Fresno state sucks ass, dude. Aaaaaaand, even if they don't, it doesn't matter that much. We LOST to fresno in 2001. Get a ****ing grip.

As we've been admitted into the pac 12, we probably dont need to play fresno in the future, but we definitely dont need to be buying our way out of that game if it is already scheduled.

I'm ok with it for now. This team is young and needs some easier games. But it had better not be a permanent scheduling change, and we'd better not LOSE.

Exactly what we need to be doing given the current state of the program. Sure, Idaho or New Mexico State would have been better to keep it FBS, but anyone still wanting the "anyone, anywhere" philosophy is ****ing clueless. Let's try keeping hopes for a bowl game alive until Oct. 1. Also, playing Fresno St on the road is another ****ing stupid decision. We're lucky that they're down, but I'll still be surprised if we win there...a "superbowl" game on their home turf. The road games at non-BCS opponents need to stop (except for doing whatever the hell it takes to not play in Denver anymore)

Yeah, and how has that worked out lately?

No we need to buy it out. Fresno is a BCS buster and has a good young QB. No more of this home and home **** with non-BCS teams when we can pay Wyoming or UNC to come to Folsom so we can have a sure W.

This.

Play the best to be the best? We aren't there right now.

I am in favor of playing a weak OOC schedule for now.

Good job, Bohn!!

Relaxing the burdensome non-conference schedule is badly needed. As others have said - hopefully they dump the Fresno State game at Fresno next year, and get another home game.

don't cry when Folsom has 30k fans to watch us play ITT.

I'd rather have the W at this point.

Plus - season ticket sales should be pretty good for next year.
Conference home games against Stanford, Washington, UCLA, Arizona State, and Utah will sell a lot of tickets.

It makes 0 sense for us to be playing Fresno St now.

Bohn arranged a two-for-one deal with Fresno. That extra game in Boulder is what makes Fresno attractive.

Also California recruiting made Fresno appealing. This is less of an issue now that the threat of P16 East division has subsided.

Other than that, there isn't a lot of excitement surrounding this series.

I know we are not the best team right now and tini I dont think it is working out for us great this season. However, it was a point of pride and it brought us amazing things like "the catch" in michigan. So I am glad to see this for a few years, but I will be glad to see the return to our traditional scheduling. I have no doubt that Embree will not let weak OOC scheduling continue in the future.

Like was said before OOC sheduling should look like this

A B C

Only if A = Arkansas State, B = Ball State, and C = Chattanooga.

I agree with one stipulation... we schedule a team from the east coast to replace the game. We don't need a Cali game for recruiting anymore, but we could use one in the South (Texas / Louisianaish) or home and homes against a team somewhere close to my house :smile2: How about rescheduling that Carolina game... Wake Forest...? Marshall...? East Carolina...? Anyway, don't dumb down the schedule too much and use the few OOC games to our advantage not just in the W-L column.

Why do we need to? We need sure wins in the OOC schedule.

I know the state of our program, but we should not seek to run with the weak at every opportunity. Perhaps we should just beat who we schedule, not schedule who we can beat. That is the biggest pussy way out I have ever heard. No courage there... hardly lives up to "THE PRIDE AND TRADITION OF THE COLORADO BUFFALOES WILL NOT BE ENTRUSTED TO THE TIMID OR THE WEAK!"
