Is there a reason for hosting a kid on an official visit but no offer?

Other reasons is to evaluate his character and how he'd fit in. Have him meet with academic advisors to be assessed in that way. But the main reason, is that things are fluid. The kid was being considered for an offer, but I'd guess that spot was taken by Sami. Most likely the staff wanted to add a DL and had a few guys in mind, so you bring them in and figure out what you want to do. Sami didn't have an offer until he visited.
And it doesn't sound like we will be offering....

Interesting. Makes me think the CU coaches were hoping to see a guy who could play NT and found, instead, a guy who was more suited to one-gapping out of a Tampa-2 type system. I still think he's a player, but understand why he may just not be a system fit.
No, CU had already made that decision to move on.
