1990 #9 Colorado at #3 Nebraska

That's the game where a marine ROTC pissed on the "N" at mid field after the game. A cop came up from behind him, grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and pushed him off the field. One of the best days of my life.

Soph year for me. Also the game where some of those ever so well behaved Nebraska fans used red spray paint all over my white pathfinder....The University offered to pay for the paint job to fix my car so long as I didn't file a police report (It was parked in an on campus lot). So one lift kit, some tires and a paint job later I sent them the bill and they paid everything no questions asked.

Also one of the most frustrating games of all time until the fourth quarter...miserable, cold, wet....but oh that fourth quarter.

"But the critics say, Nebraska hasn't faced a very tough schedule." How many times have we heard that in the pregame at the end of the season?

I was at the game too. We even heard shouts of "Fire Osborne!" After the game.
Colorado should have put that game away much earlier if not for the Bieniemy fumbles.

26 years ago means that most people on this site were only 9 when this game happened. No wonder this thread is so short.

I remember watching the game feeling CU would win the whole time. It was a good era when we could be confident CU fans.

There was a long stretch when you could pencil in the win for CU in 6 or 7 games, there were then 2-3 that you worried a bit about and then 2-3 that you circled. We all want to get back to that in the worst way. Or, for some of our younger fans, to experience that for the first time.

His initials were RT...

He was there with Jay Bob Rutter, a buddy of mine. I never actually knew the guy's name. I was just there when it all went down. Funniest thing I ever saw.
It got better trying to keep him from being arrested when he was so drunk he couldn't get his wallet out of his pocket. Only thing that saved him was producing a military reserve ID. The Nebraska Mountie just happened to be a reservist as well...

The next best event of the evening was when we got back to the place we were staying. We had been granted floor space in a giant old house from some Nebraska Marine ROTC guys. The same dude decided he wanted to climb up the chimney and come out on the roof. I don't recall the space he was working with, but he was in the chimney for a good 15 minutes climbing, grunting, and groaning. His body gave out before his mind did, and he fell down the chimney on to the floor and sprained his ankle badly.

It took a solid 90 minutes of cleaning by 6 of us to save face on the cloud of soot that exploded into the great room when he fell back down...
