2026 Transfer & Regular Signing Periods

Anyone else think Mensah hitting the portal and breaking his contract with Duke may start to provide a way out of this madness. Universities suing each other for tampering may force Congress to actually pass some legislation to rein this chaos in.

Boo Carter was a Freshman All SEC player in 2024 and preseason All American last year. His issues with the staff are the reason he didn’t play much. He is one of the best overall players in the country, let alone one of the best Safties. He is better than Byard

This will have no impact. Not until several of the SEC schools have it happen to them. Then suddenly people will freak out.

His issues were with the staff and his teammates. He has a higher ceiling than Byard for sure. He had a good freshman season. Last year was a lost year. Byard has been far more consistent.

Duke has better lawyers, home venue, and every reason to fight it tooth and nail. Also, they will be suing Mensah, not Miami, and Duke has the option NOT to let Miami or Mensah buy out his contract as they own his NIL rights and all revenue share money must go through Duke. In otherwords, Miami has no mechanism to legally pay him without serious scrutiny.

That said, Duke kind of deserves this for doing the exact same thing to Tulane. Tulane received zero compensation and Mensah sabotaged the team for the final weeks of Tulane's season (when they were fighting for a playoff spot and in CCG) when he had secretly negotiated with Duke outside of the portal. He then proceeded to ghost his teammates, and coaches and emptied out his locker without telling anyone.

F'k all parties involved. They are all trash.

The past three years the focus was on talent. We brought in a lot of guys who were heavily recruited out of HS, guys who had the measurables, guys who were "buried on the depth chart."

What we didn't consider is that a lot of those guys were buried because they weren't contributing, they weren't playing because they weren't earning playing time. We had talent but the culture was terrible.

This year it seems like they are putting a lot more emphasis on culture. Bringing in guys who were team captains, guys who earned conference honors, guys who were outperforming their recruiting expectations.

The real question though for a lot of them is if that effort and attitude is enough.

I suspect that some of them will show they belong at the P4 level but others will simply not be talented enough to keep up. What that ratio is will determine how many games the Buffs win.

The non revenue sharing money scrutiny idea is a joke.
