22-23 Transfer Portal and General Recruiting Catch-All Thread

I was thinking about this one last night-what about an experienced backup QB? Carter's in the portal now. I don't love the idea of Ryan Staub as the backup QB.

Do we need to do something like add a Grant Gunnell (former Arizona QB who re-entered the portal after a stint at North Texas) just to have a guy who has taken college snaps backing Shedeur up? I'm not attached to Gunnell-just saw the name and thought I'd use it as an example.
There's a junior dual threat from Nebraska portal (consensus 4* out of HS) who I think would fit the offense. Plenty of guys available.

If anyone has a subscription to "the Athletic", they have an article on CP's house-cleaning and an interview with Gray. Just out.

All I read was 'Gray thought he had Sunday off, was at olive garden in the afternoon. Was to meet with CP Mon at 3.
His coach contacts him, meeting has moved up. When he arrives coach tells him "you're cut, I wanted you to hear it from me, not CP". He was told they needed 5 spaces at his position, and he was the last to go.
I thought Gray had a lot of potential and is going to be a good OL a year or two down the road. He was also pretty positive about the opportunity to be coached by CP, and seemed ready for the competition. Good luck to him, I can imagine it is pretty disappointing.

Summer of ‘68. Freshman DBT heads to the football locker room to get ready for practice with the San Angelo Central High School Bobcats. Freshman DBT was about 135 dripping wet. And not only that, he was slow.

DBT gets to his locker, opens it, and it was empty. WTF? DBT tells an assistant coach, “Hey coach, my locker is empty!” Coach tells DBT, “Coach LaGrasta would like to see you in his office.” Not good.

It was a cold hearted slap in the face lesson in reality. Tough for a young guy 15 years old. My dad played with Doak Walker and Bobby Layne. He was pissed. But I had zero business playing football, :ROFLMAO: . Sorry dad.

I am so excited for the wave of commits. Our haters gnashing their teeth. Rending their garments. The lamentations of their women.

I'd think that means a starting OL. Otherwise he probably doesn't get crunched. Also would indicate that we are going to get to 85.
No way any of that is that precise (your first sentence). He knows what's leaving won't suffice for a group of 8-10 "need to be ready in 2023" level of guys.
So he gets 5 more shots and hopes he doesn't waste any (Mugharbil).

If you are saying he wants to bring in 5 guys all that can compete for PT this year, yeah, I agree.

I just laugh at all the Prime doesn't want to develop talent people. What coach on the planet could turn a college sophomore or junior that is the trifecta of short, skinny, and slow into P5 player?
