22-23 Transfer Portal and General Recruiting Catch-All Thread

All five able to play AND staying healthy is not reality though.
The health aspect I agree with, but all 5 of the guys are transfers with experience and from the sounds of it, the youngest one (Bishop Thomas) might have the highest ceiling. I think all 5 are expected to be able to play.

5 is definitely not enough. It’s not just about games. You want to be able to give the 2nd and 3rd team oline legitimate looks in practice. No way to do that with 5 guys without using them up during the week. It’s not unlike the years we couldn’t scrimmage because we only had 7 olineman. It’s not good.

Depth is certainly a concern. Someone goes Down with a injury for a month and a player is suspended a game for targeting. Down to three, that's a problem. Then a second player gets hurt 😳

The point is, there aren’t many programs around the country with more than 5 guys who can play. They may have 8-9 total players on the roster at that position, but if you lose your entire two deep, it doesn’t really matter. It’s not like Blackwood’s presence alleviated the depth concerns. Chance Main is likely going to be part of that IDL rotation as well.

I know this is the 'catch-all' thread, but please: no butt stuff.

The 2016 team pretty much played 4 guys and mostly 3 guys all year long. That was obviously an anomaly with health, but this isn't any different than other positions where they will be devastated with injuries.

Yup. Great point.

Samson Kafovalu, Jordan Carrell and Josh Tupou manned the middle and were studs that season.

Looking at that team's roster is crazy. We were loaded.

If the D line can produce 2 big run stoppers out of Amari McNeil, Bishop Thomas, Chazz Wallace and Leonard Payne, we ought to be okay. Cokes and Main seem to be hybrid inside/outside guys who can do multiple things.

How does it compare (on paper) to this team?

Gotta go be MM credit for that roster. Lots of "reaches" who absolutely panned out.
