Obviously Big George will be the captain of the D, but who is the offensive captain? Special Teams?
This is what scares me the most. We have a team full of good/great players, but they just don't have the experience. I could see Cody possibly being the captain if he gets the QB position in the Spring/early fall. Great leadership and I think he'll really start to shine now that we have more threats on the field. However, I just don't see any else on the team that could be the captain. Besides Big George (and Nicholas), we just don't have any veteran playmakers.
As far as special teams that's another uncertainty. Jalil Brown? Again, he's only a sophomore though.
Looking at our roster for the upcoming year and our schedule it's going to be grueling. At least we have Pittman though. The man will certainly help prepare our guys for next, but most importantly the year after that when we really start to breakout.
I'll do it. I'm an excellent coin toss caller.
Defense - Senior choices are Hypolite, Walters, Nicholas, Lucas, Jones, Burton, McKay, and Dykes. Bet here is it's between Hypolite and Walters.
Offense - Senior choices are Sanders, Crawford, Williams, Cantrell, and Nelson. Wouldn't surprise me if Sanders got it.
ST - ????? I have no idea.
It's not out of the question for a non-senior to be a captain. If that happens, we could see Hawkins and Sipili.
One skid's view:
Hypolite is a shoo-in on Defense. Jeff Smart is on deck.
On offense, Riar Geer isn't the worst choice. Give it to Sanders if it means a reduction in bad snaps.
DiLallo on Special Teams.
I think it'll be Walters on defense. I remember reading an article talking about him being a captain in everything but name last year.
:yeahthat: On offense i wouldn't be surprised with Cody as captain.
Yeah, I think Walters is the captain. He's one of my favorite players - leaves it all on the field, and he can play. He's very vocal too, and seems like a good guy. He might not be the star as George, but he's still good. I think he'll be fist team all big 12 next year.
Offense - I say Cody.
ST - I have no idea.
The guy can lay some huge hits. I love it when safeties can do that.
dont the capts have to be seniors? im not sure but, i think so....
anyone know for sure?
they dont have to be, but I think Hawk likes them to be
I would say Smart could be the ST captain if that means he gets involved. I'm worried that he wont be able to play much with our group of LB. I hope he does though, his attitude and speed are tremendous. He might not be the fastest guy out there but damn, he is near the ball every play. Also his pass rushing helped immensely when they let him fly. I remember him shooting gaps like crazy, not much production but definitely causing a ruckus. I would hope that he lands a starting job but if he doesn't then ST is definitely a good fit for him, especially with RJ Brown gone.
RJ Brown was ST captain as a Jr. last year.
