3. Alec Burks, G, So., Colorado
ESPN.com NBA draft ranking: 18

I profiled Burks last month after one NBA scout said the guard was his 2011 draft sleeper. Burks is coming off a great freshman season that saw him average 17.5 ppg.

He's a terrific athlete, excels at getting to the basket, and this summer he showed NBA scouts that he also can play some point guard. His lack of a consistent jump shot and his thin frame are two question marks, but more and more NBA scouts seem to believe that Burks could end up hearing his name in the lottery on draft night.

2 freshmen, 2 sophs, 1 Jr.

I guess if we keep Burks 2 years that's probably par for the course in college hoops these days.... :sad1:

Ya know, I'd prolly be a bit sad if (when) he leaves and gets drafted. But I'd be very happy for him if he were drafted in the top 20, and it looks like that's a real possibility.

He's still young. If he fills in, with his ability to score and his body control, he should be a good player in the NBA. I'll enjoy having someone else to root for at the next level, although it'd be great to see watch him at CU for another two years. Hopefully the Celtics will be looking for a 2 to replace Allen after this year.
