PROVO, Utah – The University of Colorado women’s soccer team dropped its first match of the season here Friday evening, falling to the 11th-ranked BYU Cougars, 2-0 at South Field.

The Buffs move to 1-1-1 on the season and BYU remains unbeaten at 2-0 overall.

The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead, capitalizing off a corner kick in the 13th minute. Sophomore Stephanie Ringwood won the ball at the top of the 18, had a one touch pass to midfielder Elena Medeiros and her shot deflected off the far post and into the back of the net.

“BYU played very well and they deserved to win the match,” said Colorado head coach Danny Sanchez. “We talked about starting fast and we got off to a bit of a slow start. We gave up the early goal, but after that I thought we settled down.”
