This is a truly dumb article. Of course it is worth it for this team to get to a bowl. The premise that it would not be “worth it” is a strange perspective. He even mentions the practices but kind of writes it off. Go home, lick their wounds and find out who the new leader is going to be.

Get the new leader, use the practices to work with the players, create excitement, and get a recruiting weekend set up.

And even if it is a "minor" bowl it is a couple weeks of extra practices to work with the young players who are going to be counted on next year.
 
Terrible.

A new coach cannot recruit with bowl practices going on?

A win should give Roper a longer look at the permanent job?

Some teams who made bowls are not going to make them this year somehow proves the extra practices are meaningless?

Just stop. Losing begets more losing.
