Expectations for next year?

Returning some good talent and welcoming in some great talent. What are the expectations for next year? Regular season conference title? A for sure at-large big dance invite, deeper in the tourney?

I am curious as to everyones expectations. thanks and GO BUFFS!

I've pretty much learned to never question Boyle but I think we'll see more of a drop off then most would expect. We lose over 3,000 minutes with Dufault, Tomlinson, and Brown. And if shooting was our weakness this year, it will be even more so next year. We'll have to see if Dinwiddie or Booker can step up as a true PG. Our depth at guard will probably be a weakness. We only have Dinwiddie, Booker, Talton, and Chen (which I'd like not to see play).

But, I guess if anyone can pull it off, it's Tad Boyle

I understand we are welcoming in some great talent. However, some other opponents are in similar or better situation too.

I still say let's fight for top3 seed in regular season, and have another great 13 class with a shooter(Yes I hate that douchebag hislip but we definitely need guys like him in our team)

Let's enjoy this without pushing too much

It'll take a while to gel. The good thing is, we get to tour Europe. So maybe that will speed up the process a bit. But think about it. We will be lead by a junior and two sophomores with an influx of freshmen. I hope Dre sticks around for his senior year.

Expectations: 20+ wins, top 4 in the Pac-12, Playing in the semis/finals in the Pac-12 Tourney, in the Big Dance, top 4 highest attendance in the conference with all home conference games sold out.

I think next year will be a transition year, very similar to 2012 in football. I think we have some talent coming back, some depth coming in but now they need to work it all out. We still seem short at guard but will improve depth at SF/PF. Center is very much in question if Tunks is expected to carry any significant minutes. I'm down right scared about that.

I'm not as good as James or some of these guys but I'd like to see a positional breakdown like this:

PG: Booker, Chen, Talton
SG: Dinwiddie, Jenkins, Adams
SF: Roberson, Johnson (Lots of Minutes)
PF: Gordon, Scott
C: Scott, Tunks

We're extremely thin in the backcourt. I could see both Askia and Dinwiddie being asked to take the point at some point but I like Spencer's shot better, along with Booker's slashing. I think both need to get much better handles on the ball this offseason. They simply turned it over too much. Would be nice if Cain could come back and get everything together. Sounds like his ship may have sailed though. As that is, Roberson is going to be a stud for us next year. We just need to hope he can develop more mid-range game going into next year.

Johnson, Scott, Gordon and Jenkins will be pressed into action early. Gordon reminds me a lot of Roberson when he plays. Solid defender who will hit the boards and get put backs. Jenkins is the wild card with his shooting which has been hyped as of late. Scott is raw but is a big body who seems like he can pass fairly well. He needs to thicken up. Johnson looks like he could impact our offense immediately. Good mid range game, can get to the basket. Expectations will be for him to step in right away and play. It would be nice if Talton could surprise and take up some point time. I don't have much faith in Chen or Sharpe to do much on that front.

This. Except I would add that we should break the record for non-conference attendance to get the program in the black before the start of the new year. The more money we make, the more students we can take on the road. Also, I'd love to see C-Unit win that Naismith award next year. They definitely deserve it if they keep doing what they started this year.

I agree 100% with this. These are realistic expectations while not going overboard. I would be happy with these results and ecstatic with anything more, especially with how young next years team will be.

20+ wins and on the bubble. Sleeper to win the P12T as Tad gets them peaking at the right time for the 3rd straight year.

Keep in mind, starting this July, money becomes less and less of an issue for our AD

Even though we have a great class coming in I expect a slight dropoff given the experience and leadership we'll lose, plus the rest of the conference will undoubtedly improve. That elusive trip to the Sweet 16 is likely still a few years away.

Just like this year, I expect a slow start to the season as we must figure out who is going to step up and replace Carlon..... but I expect us to come together before conference play begins. 20+ wins, NCAA bubble team, top half of the Pac12

THis is the sign of good coaching and I agree. You really throw your guys out there early, see what they're made up with minutes they get and develop some solid team chemistry by twisting around the roster to get the right fit. It's the part that I love about baseball and basketball, the strategy of getting the right mix of guys going at the same time.

Tournament bid wrapped up before the Pac 12 tourney even starts. That means no losses like CSU and Wyoming this season, and San Francisco last year. Roberson with an effective mid-range jumper and better defender. Tunks coming out of his shell and realizing the damage he could do with that big body of his. Dinwiddie and Booker just improving all around. Both have decent jumpers and both can get to the hole and score. Jeremy Adams becoming a regular contributor.

With Tad Boyle we will be fine. We will have the toughest home court in the conference and thanks to breaking through this year, we will be on the right side of the bubble next year.

I agree. We'll be better but so will the rest of the conference. I think we'll see the big jump in 13.

My expectations are that we play hard and compete, get very close to or over 20 wins. A lot of variables going in to next season. We're losing some valuable players, but are they more valuable than the players we lost last year? How much better will the rest of the conference be? Which of the freshmen can contribute and how much? I think we should temper our expectations. Remember we're a great play by Dre away from not making it to the conference semi-final game and playing in the NIT.

Good observation and very supportable if you look at the history of Tad's teams at CU and at UNC. He has tended to start slow and peak at the end of the season.

Add to that a team losing a lot of senior leadership, adding a bunch of young talent that will have to adjust to the college game, and a team that is likely to be at least starting to make a major change in character from an outside oriented team offensively with Carlon Brown as the primary offensive threat and Tomlinson dictating the pace along with a primarily perimeter passing game with slashing off the perimeter. With the guys coming in we will still have a lot of that but Scott and Gordon and even Jenkins and Johnson who are taller 3's than we have used recently should mean we do more in and out passing as well.

Everything next year will hinge on how fast the freshman adapt to the college game. I don't see us worse than 4th in the PAC but 1st is certainly possible.

We have seen in recent weeks right into the tourney two issues that must be dealt with for this team to reach it's potential. One is to put an end to the frequent negative runs we saw in lots of games this year, the stretches where we went 5-8 minutes with no effective offense and got outscored by significant margins. The other is figuring out a way to defend against the spot-up 3 point shooter coming off screens like we saw last night and saw in many other games as well. If we can do these two things then we will be a much better team. Again with Tad's history I fully expect him to figure out how to fix both.

I'd like to see cu finish top half, play better non conference schedule and make the dance. 2013 looks like the real deal.

The problem is next year may be our last with Dre. I LOVE Ski and Spencer's games, but am I the only one who wishes they were just a bit taller and heavier? Regardless, those two are gonna be real fun to watch for the next three years. I see lots of alley-oops in Roberson, Scott and Gordon's futures.

I think the bubble is more likely than not, if only because we are working so many newbies into the lineup. While Europe might get us over the hump, if we're expecting four freshman to either start or be in the rotation I think there will still be hiccups in the early part of the schedule (which is not to say I'm not excited to see this class play).

That said, I can't quit entertaining the hunch that we'll see more from simba and adams next year. I thought Tunks showed flashes down the stretch, both scoring down low and passing from the high post. If he can cut down the turnovers, I think we the quality of his minutes, while hopefully not too increased, will go up. Is 4 and 4 too much to expect from him?

Adams was tentative all year, but I thought his D was serviceable enough that Tad kept him in the rotation. If he can just be average from the perimeter, the lane could really open up for him. Like Carlon, I think he has the strength to absorb some shots on the way to the rim that our other guys don't.

Spencer is 6'4"-6'5" and is fine. Ski is fine because he can drive and shoot the three ball. Their size is fine.

I expect Spencer and Ski will bulk up over the next year or so.

We will be better than a bubble team. You can rely on freshman in basketball but out starting lineup will have at least 3 of the 5 being a Sophomore or Junior and Gordon will come off the bench, that's more than ample to be better than a bubble team.

Aim higher people!

Charleston classic champs. Pac 12 regular season champs. Pac 12 tournament champs. top 6 seed.

Roll ****ing Tad

I just think December is tricky and that has been what's fu***d our chances at an at-large bid. I have more faith than not that we'll see the qualities we've been reading about scott and x by the end of the season, I just don't know if we'll see them in first 10 games.
