Facilities Plans...

I know the alumni want franklin, but That is exactly where the practice facility needs to go. Needs to be front and center for recruits, not an out building in a flood plain.

Really digging these plans. Looks like they are going to leave the west side alone for now, which probably brings down the cost significantly. Also not having to demo family housing makes things cheaper too.

Also in Barzil from Nik, since this morning

You crazy kids

I believe CU still plans to demo the family housing anyway and after the floods, I'm sure CU is re-thinking its student housing plans.

And looking closer at the plans, does it appear that perhaps Field Turf is going into Folsom Field too?

As much as I love the natural grass, I do admit that Field Turf is much easier and cheaper to maintain and looks better on TV

The photos of the new practice turf with the CU and Pac-12 logos were very nice...I believe it was to show CU fans how nice a field turf field would look in Folsom Field. I was sold after seeing those photos.

I thought you were going away for a while? Stop teasing us.

I really like what George did here. Identified what we need from a facilities upgrade point of view while throwing in a few wants to "wow" recruits without going overboard.

I really hope that this passes.

That statement by Ludwig is exactly what is wrong with the sports culture at the University...

Proposed new revenue from:

-Retail that is to take over the south side of the stadium once offices are vacated due to new construction
-New Club level and club seating in the north endzone
-Leasing and partnerships of a "High Performance Sports Center" which boils down to a Biomechanics research office. Cool concept.

Deer god @ Ludwig
Predictable that we'd see some of that type of reaction with the "Wow factor" language in the proposal. His response probably speaks for a few of the regents who don't get it and never will (unless or until the football program gets back to the elite and the University reaps the benefits). We only need five of them to actually get it. Regents who vote against this should be sentenced to the gulag.

We are so overdue for this it is not funny. This is the part of the AD job that Mike Bohn struggled with so much.

The research center should catch the attention of the Regents. We want to be a big time research school, and this facility could pull in elite level researchers and faculty in sports medicine and biomechanics.

So long as we spend the appropriate money to have the right equipment, and it must be cutting edge.
