agree 100%. all great jokes are in bad taste to some group of people
This is right on the mark.

So I'm guessing I should burn all my Branch Davidian jokes.

I don't mind jokes in bad taste as long as they are clever (like this one).

"Sal is dead, go big red" is offensive because it is just so stupid. If you are going to desecrate the memory of a recently dead young man at least do it with style and flair.

my only real problem with the Baylor people i've met, act like they go/went to Harvard or something. BU is a good school, but no where near the other BCS privates like Stanford, Duke, Vandy, N'Western, Wake Forest even. it's closer to the U of Denver than Duke. nothing against DU, i worked there for a year. pretty good place, all in all.

No ****, they really do. And Baylor ain't that great - it's a good school, but not even close to a great one. I think UT is probably a better school than Baylor. Just like anywhere else in Texas, Baylor has the good ole boys network going for it (but then again so does Aggy and UT). That might lend itself to the notion that it's a better school than it really is - because sometimes BU grads get jobs they otherwise wouldn't/shouldn't.

Seriously. I don't get the arrogance they seem to have. Pretty decent law school and very good medical school (CU higher ranked in both), but the school is not exactly Stanford or anything. I'm pretty sure Aggy and UT are more highly regarded.

And as absinthe says, Rice has the crappy football team/great school market cornered.

Texas has good faculty and all that...but they have horrid grad rates for student athletes. Not my Nebraska...No.1 in the Big 12 holla!

That's wonderful, but we're talking about schools in general right now. Nebraska doesn't belong in the conversation.

Baylor is the best Baptist Seminary School in Texas!

UT at Austin is one of the best public universites in the country.. Its by far and away the best academic school in the Big 12..

Come On! Seriously!
How many dead astronauts graduated from UT?

UT Austin is a very good public university, no question, but it suffers from one fatal flaw. It is in Texas.

When my wife was graduating from business school she interviewed with a company in Austin and it seemed that she would get a job offer. I walked outside one day and pictured myself putting Texas plates on my car and nearly got sick :puke:

I actually gave serious consideration to going to UT out of high school. When I saw how much it was going to cost for out-of-state tuition, the thought quickly died.

A couple of my fraternity brothers went there for their masters in chemical engineering. Freeks. :wow:

"Best Public University" is an asinine debate.
It's like debating the "Best Drug". What's best: cocaine, Viagra, or penicillin?
Well, it depends if you want to get jacked up, get it up, or get it cleared up. The best drug is the one that adresses your needs.

Same with schools. If you earn a living sticking your arm up a cow's who-ha, then UT isn't where you want to go. Similar debates hold true for meteorology, astrophysics, homeland security, beauty school, telecommunication, auto mechanics and thousands of specific fields.

UT has a famous top ranked B-school. It also will serve you well for dozens of general or specific engineering, arts and science fields. But keep in mind that the value of that diploma diminishes the farther you go from the Texas state line. Once you are in Chigago, the UT lambskin may not open too many doors.

back on the subject.... from my coworker, the ex LB of the one of the Aggies wrecking crew

Fran, Texas A&M Moving Toward Buyout

After discussions with a number of sources close to the Texas A&M program, we feel confident in reporting Dennis Franchione will not be the head football coach in College Station next year.

While Fran has not been officially offered a buyout, phrases such as “NCAA rules violations” have been presented to him. A&M has made it clear it is ready and willing to negotiate. The Aggies are hoping to use Coach Fran’s latest transgression (booster newsletter) as a way to leverage him into accepting a lower buyout than his contract requires.

We do not believe a move is imminent. We do, however, believe that Franchione’s dismissal is now a matter of when – not if. Whether the announcement is made this week, next month or in December, you can rest assured the search for Texas A&M’s next head football coach is already underway.

I've never understood why everybody thinks Austin is such a great city. I've spent plenty of time there on business and just don't get it

(off-topic UBT, I know)

Agreed. It's a 45 minute drive and everyone raves about 6th street. After 4 years here I've gone maybe three times. San Antonio's night life is just as good and you don't have to deal with the morons like you do on 6th. Austin is more pleasing to the eye though. San Antonio looks like garbage except for a few spots.

Austin is head and shoulders above San Antonio, which has to be one of the worst big cities in America.

Northern San Antonio is very nice...the area I live in which is kinda by the Dominion where all the Spurs live. The rest is absolute garbage. Downtown isn't bad.

I think its a relativity thing, after the rest of Texas....

It's all based on the supposition that you don't mind living in a sauna bath for 5-6 months of the year. I do not understand what people see in the climate, here or in Arizona unless you can afford 2 homes.
