Men's basketball (12-5 overall, 3-3 in the Pac 12) starts a string of 4 home games in 4 days between them and the women at the Events Center.. 1st off is a late Thursday matchup against the Pac 12 leading and RV (Receiving the 35th most votes in the AP poll released today) Oregon Ducks (13-3, 5-0) that evening, followed up with a Saturday early evening contest with the Oregon State Beavers (AKA OSU; 9-7, 1-4).

(I'm starting this thread early since I've got a HEAVY travel week to halfway around the world (YEY for tropical weather!), so depending on timing and jet lag I may not be updating the thread as I normally do with things like preview articles. live stats direct links, etc..)

Thursday's game will be shown on FS!, while Sunday's is scheduled to be shown on multiple Pac 12 Network channels. (Further info and links for media options available near the bottom of this post.)

Note- In the NET Rankngs as I type this (for games through 1/14/24), the Buffs are at #48, while the Ducks are #55 and OSU #179.

Go Buffs!!!

(Preview(s) not available as I type this.)

Perfect Weekend Ahead For Buffs Fans To Binge On Hoops

By: Neill Woelk, Contributing Editor

BOULDER — This upcoming weekend might just be one of the biggest in Colorado basketball history when all factors are taken into account.

Four home games in four days, with every matchup a critical one, offering CU fans a rare opportunity at back-to-back-to-back-to-back contests at the Events Center....
...

Meanwhile, Tad Boyle's CU men have a crucial weekend on the horizon as well. After ending a three-game losing streak with a come-from-behind win Saturday over USC in front of 10,000 at the Events Center, the Buffs get two more at home this weekend, where they'll try to improve the 10-0 home record they've built this year.

Thursday, the Buffs (12-5 overall, 3-3 Pac-12) play host to Oregon in an 8:30 p.m. contest. The Ducks (13-3, 5-0) are the lone remaining unbeaten team in Pac-12 play, but Colorado has an 11-1 all-time advantage over Oregon in games played in Boulder.

Then comes a 5 p.m. game Saturday against Oregon State — and the Buffs need to win both to stay within reach of the conference leaders.

It all adds up to an opportunity for Colorado basketball fans to spend a weekend watching two teams capable of making some noise in March when their respective NCAA tournaments tip off.
...

Boyle's Buffs are also a team with excellent tournament potential — if they can get healthy and develop the 40-minute consistency needed to survive a win-or-go-home environment.

KJ Simpson and Tristan da Silva are all-Pac-12 performers. Fab frosh Cody Williams, back from missing seven games with a wrist injury, is a potential game changer. Big man Eddie Lampkin Jr. is a force inside and do-everything guard J'Vonne Hadley might be one of the most under-appreciated players in the league.

But the Buffs have yet to display the ability to put together consistent 40-minute efforts. If they do — and this would be a good week to uncover that quality — they are also the kind of team that can match up with almost any kind of opponent.

Buffs need home sweep; can’t over-look OSU Beavers size-depth on Saturday!

Ducks N’Fale Dante came off bench last game; guessing maybe he’s starting vs Buffs on Thurs? Tough match-up for Lampkin. But if Buffs ball-screen D shows up-like 2nd half vs. USC-feel good about a Buffs win!

Still more worried about PAC’s poor non-conference showing & difficulties getting NET ranking up. Need some road wins-starting w/ Washington & Utah trips-after this home-stand. Then Arizona upset at home 2B🔑?

Coaches Radio show tonight, 7pm: https://cubuffs.com/news/2024/1/12/...Fans are encouraged to come,FM - from 8-9 p.m.

I'm sort of expecting the Buffs to play their best game of the season Thursday. Everyone's been back from injury for a game or two. They've had 3 days to practice and prepare at home. Oregon is 5-0 in conference, with a target on their back, but they are not as good as their conference record (two road wins is nothing to sneeze at, but we beat those teams without DaSilva and Williams). Crowd should be good, too.

In case you want to accuse me of B_walking, I fully expect us to step on our dicks on Saturday.

Most important game is the next one. Oregon has also played themselves back into NCAA contention, so we need that game badly.

Altman is also something like 1-11 in Boulder.

These jerseys are so god damn awesome. IMO the best CU combo out there
Absolutely. I wish it was the standard white uni combo for all CU sports.

I wonder how it would look if they did an away that mirrored it - same gold lettering on a black background with white trim. Maybe the white would work as well as a contrasting border as the black does on the white unis. Maybe silver instead of white?

Cody Williams will put up his first triple double tonight and give two birds to the Ducks on the way off the court to forward on to Lanning
Man, there's enough hatred for Altman that Lanning doesn't even compare. I'd rather Cody direct his ire there.

Looking forward to this one. We still have never lost to Altman in Boulder correct?

Traffic report: drove Broadway North to Regent and pulled right into the lot. It took no longer than it would on a non-game weeknight.

miss a blatant double dribble then call the softest foul on Tristan. pac refs

I do feel like these announcers are above average though

If the game was at like 7 I would have gone. Late for a weeknight for people with kids.

Refs have been terrible
Hot steaming garbage. Who’s the older chunky ref we seem to get every series here? He’s fvcking cheeks.

Defense is good so far...it feels like we should be winning by more. CU is playing better for sure. Ref-ball sucks, man.
