Glass LED basketball floors coming?

Kobe Bryant was one of the first to make this a public thing at his LA Basketball Expo

I love it, but what about people that could be adversely affected by the lights?

Now, I want us to take the End Zone at Folsom and make the entire COLORADO logo into a digital screen on the slope :oops:o_O

Also, those 45 minute delays due to cracked panels are going to be fun!

I fvcking hate it. Nonstop distracting ads and other BS all game long. 🤮
I really don't need "Did you know that Nikola Jokic is shooting 82.3% from the FT line on this homestand? If not, maybe you need a Snickers" projecting at me from the court while I'm trying to enjoy a basketball game.

I am imagining the constant sportsbook ads.

I would expect that the ads and other distracting stuff would only be visible during breaks in the action.

And we thought the Smurf Turf at Boise was bad, this could get obnoxious fast.

Could also see it being distracting to the players. Some offenses have players work off certain marks on the floor, this would make it harder to spot those.

Also a lot of times you are aware of your opponent by movement of his foot or catching the poke of a hand out of the corner of your eye, you see a teammate or opponent by a glance. I could see this floor messing all of that up.

Again, I seriously doubt there would be any distracting stuff on the floor during play. It would all be during breaks. During play it would just look like a normal basketball court.

They change the digitally created ads on the boards while play is underway during hockey broadcasts. They even include distracting animated transitions to make sure you don’t miss the switch. I’d be shocked if the NBA doesn’t do even worse with this floor if it means a few more advertising dollars.

Distracting the viewers is different than distracting the players.

There will be an adjustment period, but good players aren't distracted from shenanigans behind the hoop during free throws. I don't expect this would be any different over time.

Do I like it? No.

Do I think it impacts the game materially after an adjustment period? Also no.

I’m wondering how it performs as a playing surface? I have to imagine the bounce and feel is different than wood. Will a less shock absorbent surface lead to bad knees backs and hips? What is the traction like?
