SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The University of Colorado men’s golf team is tied for second after two rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, both of which were completed here Monday.
No. 11 Oklahoma assumed the lead after recording the third best afternoon score to go with its second best effort in the morning to finish the day with an even-par 560 total. That’s good for a one-shot lead over the No. 52 Buffaloes and No.39 Brigham Young, both in with 561 scores; Utah is in fourth at 562 with Gonzaga rounding out the top five with a 565 count.
Colorado held the first round lead after firing a 9-under 271 score, which led Oklahoma by four shots. It tied the second best team score in CU history on a par-70 course, matching the first round score in the 1979 Oklahoma City All-College Golf Classic; the only one better came in this very tournament three years ago, a 10-under 270, also in the first round.
