WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The 2013 outdoor track and field season is just one week old, but University of Colorado junior Emily Hunsucker has already started to pick up awards as she was named the Pac-12 Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

The honor, Hunsucker's first, comes on the heels of a huge personal best of 195 feet, 10 inches in the hammer throw on Friday which helped her win the inaugural Jerry Quiller Classic. She became the second best performer at CU in the hammer throw with the toss; only second to Janet Visosky. Visosky owns CU's record at 196-10 and also has the second best mark (196-1). Hunsucker earned her PR in the final throw, which came after four straight fouls. Her first toss was 183-1.

The Arvada, Colo. native currently ranks second in the Pac-12 Conference and is also fourth nationally. This is the first conference athlete of the week honor for the Buffs in track and field.
