BOULDER - University of Colorado senior Emily Hunsucker won the women's hammer throw on the first day of the Jerry Quiller Classic Friday afternoon.

Hunsucker launched a personal best toss of 195 feet, 10.25 inches to become the second best performer in CU history behind Janet Visosky (196-10). The mark also ranks third all-time for the Buffs. Hunsucker recorded the mark on her sixth and final attempt of the meet.

Teammate Kellie Lind place third in the hammer throw with a mark of 169-10.50, also coming on her final throw of the afternoon.

On the men's side, Cameron Hutchins led the Buffs with an 11[SUP]th[/SUP]-place finish, tossing the hammer 169-9. Brady Rutt was 13[SUP]th[/SUP] overall (159-11.50).

The Buffs also did well in the javelin. Genny Mayden had the best finish for CU by placing third overall. She recorded a toss of 121-9 in her final throw of the afternoon. Brian Owens was the top CU male in the javelin. He was fourth overall with a mark of 178-5.50.

The second day of the Jerry Quiller Invite is Saturday and starts at 11 a.m. Admission and parking are free.
