If Butch Jones does come to colorado what would be

I don't think conference ties for the coordinators is that big of a deal except that it might shorten the learning curve. But if our guys are familiar with the conference schemes, the conference is familiar with them too. It's a wash, imo.

Interesting that Jones' staffs have stayed out of Texas and Oklahoma completely. They recruit Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Florida almost exclusively. Some in TN. Some in CA.

Nothing in Texas. Nothing. The CA guys were almost all Juco guys.

That could turn out to be a benefit if one-2 guys on the staff focus on a few midwestern states that they have deep roots in while the rest of our staff battle it out with the other Pac 12/Big 10/SEC teams in TX plus Cali

I would much prefer to have 2 star guys coached up to play at a 3 to 4 star level than the 3 star guys we had that were coached down to 1-star level.

Competent coaching, winning, and developing players will be a major factor in increasing our recruiting efforts. As Nik has pointed out, the HC, OC, and DC should be the "closers" and overall strategists when it comes to recruiting (the architects that have the plans), and the position coaches are the contractors that execute it and do the leg work.

Having a background in an area helps, but it shouldn't be the sole factor in hiring a guy, competency needs to come first. We have 75-90 players that currently play football for CU that will dictate how successful we are in the next couple of seasons, teaching them how to win should be priority #1.

And if Andy Ludwig is available and interested and Butch Jones wants him then that would be a major coup for us! He was once thought to be Tedford's heir-apparent at Cal and a highly sought after OC, but his style is more power run game, pro-style offense than no-huddle spread which seems to be Jones' style.
