January 28th - Elite Underclassmen Weekend

Is the weather in Boulder as nice today as it is in the northern part of the state? If so, it's a great example to the EE's and transfers of how mid-30's temps in Colorado aren't cold when the sun is out.

It's beautiful here today (and perfect at Eldora too). Yesterday might have been off-putting for anyone from warmer climes who was checking out Boulder, though.

Cold days will happen. It's Colorado in January. What's most important, imo, is letting these kids see that Colorado isn't this endless dark, cold winter that other areas of the country get.

For the same reason that “cold” has been surprising warm to them thus far, I anticipate the southern transplants to fall in love with summer and fall here. Long days and heat that is noticeable, but not oppressive like in the south.

And that typically fades into a very comfortable temp when the sun goes down, rather than staying at 95+ through the night

It matters because our Coach has been very vocal over his life that he hates the cold, and the vast majority of this staff’s recruiting ties appear to be in the SEC footprint. tOSU and UM recruit well as blue bloods, but there are definitely a substantial number of recruits in the SEC footprint that would never consider playing there because of the climate. If CP can honestly tell these kids that this isn’t the arctic, and it is in fact quite pleasant on most days, it widens our recruiting pool substantially. We need that.

Michigan and Ohio State (among others in the B1G) are also located in pretty good natural recruiting grounds. Of course they pull kids from the South, but they aren’t reliant on it like CU is going to be under CP.

This. And as much as we all want to talk about weather being a non-issue, there's clearly a national perception that Colorado winters are miserable. The more kids see that it's not true, and that there are more mild, sunny days than snow days, the quicker we remove one more negative recruiting tactic.
