He is getting off on the wrong foot, for sure.Is this guy a jackass or what? He has to play at Florida in September, and starts off his career at Tennessee by making a fool out of himself. Hey dumb $hit this is the freakin SEC, save that kind of crap for the minor leagues.

I am stealing this take on it from someone else, but I love the stunt. Its exactly what Jim Harbaugh did at Stanford, walk in, make some noise, grab a recruit or two and pick a fight with the biggest kid in the yard.
Actually its basically the same stunt Mac pulled trying to pick a fight with nebraska right after the Fairbanks era.
Any background on what you're talking about would be helpful for an ignorant pos like myself :smile2:
Actually, he reminds me a whole lot more of Skippy Neuweasel at this point in time. Cocky, unprepared to be a head coach.
What are you talking about? Skippy was a QB coach with no major co-ordinator experience.
Kiffin ran the offense at USC, and was the actual head coach of the radiers for a year and a half. Not only that but he has one of the best d-coordinators in the game on his sideline.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't ever remember Mac shooting of his mouth like this goof. I can never remember him talking about things when he absolutely doesn't know what in the hell he is talking about. As a big Mac fan I think it's an insult to compare an immature person like Lane Kiffin to Mac. I'm sure the powers at Tennessee have pulled him aside and warned him to never do something like this again.I am stealing this take on it from someone else, but I love the stunt. “
I apologize to Commissioner Mike Slive and the SEC, including Florida AD Jeremy Foley and coach Urban Meyer. My comments were not intended to offend anyone at the University of Florida.
” -- Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin
What kind of a half ass apology is that? You called Meyer a cheat - but that's not intended to offend anyone?
One thing is for sure - the media hype for the Florida game will be sky high, but the game is in The Swamp - he's not helping his players out.You are correct in your characterizations of the way the two men acted/are acting but I still think the spirit of picking a fight with the big dog in your league when you have no business doing so is very similar.
UT made a poor hire IMO. Fulmer was stumbling, but to can him and lock UT into the position of having to hire a HC right at the end of the season was a poor decision. They would have been far better off waiting until the end of the season, and gauging interest from more sources than were available when Lane was hired. They would have been far better off with Brian Kelly, Chucky Gruden, Gary Patterson or even a Bud Foster type coach. Kiffin is a disaster waiting to happen IMO. Maybe none of those guys wanted the UT job, but I find that hard to believe, UT is a pretty plum gig....
The other move Kiffen made was hiring Orgeron. He is a maniacal recruiter, that put Tenn in a good place. If they can generate any sort of offense, I think Tenn will be pretty decent in the next few years.
