Leavitt to Oregon

You could tell there was some tension there. In pressers, when HCMM was asked questions about how the defense had come so far, HCMM would spend minutes talking about how they got some good players to come to CU and they were finally seniors with 4 years in the system....and then he would say the six words and Jim has done a good job. He always seemed to deflect, or talk about the players maturing when asked questions like: JMFL seems to be doing a fantastic job; what are your thoughts?

I think it is hard to tell who was most responsible for the turn-around...and you must admit that everyone asks that question...at least to themselves. HCMM got so much credit. It is easy to say you are a professional and those kind of emotions don't bother you...but deep down they do.

I agree with we will be fine. Just so disapointed in the greed and self promotion. Cant take anyone at their word. Word means **** now days

There was clearly a power struggle between Mac and Leavitt...Mac should have been touting Leavitt as the best DC in the country..nary a word..we went from THE WORST defense in FBS...to a top 10 defense...rather have Leavitt as HC than Mac..sorry.

Now that I'vebeen drinking and taking shots. I am truly disapointed in JMFL.
We will be fine...

PLAYERS MAKE PLAYS !
PLAYERS WIN GAMES!!

GO BUFFS!

2-3 right?

Chido and Tedric were HCMM.

I so badly want to give JL credit for the job he did here, but you can't blame us fans for feeling deceived. We defended him against all character critiques, rah rah'd with his over the top positivity on twitter...and then he leaves us to be the DC at Oregon, for no real apparent driver other than money...as if we needed another reason to hold a passionate disdain for the ducks.

I guess this is what we get for murdering Oregon football. Classic Buffs. Let's hope HCMM continues to quell the doubters into next year, cause I have to admit, I have some doubts that JL didn't have an outsized impact on the rise.

Chido, tedric, afo, spoon, oiliver, Carroll, olugbode, Gilliam

fine, whatever. thanks for the job he did while he was and **** him if he doesn't want to be here now. raises, whatever. you are either with us or against us. through my lenses, every event is analyzed by whether it is good for the Buffs or bad for the Buffs. see you next year, coach.

It does make for interesting conversation on the old narrative of who was actually behind the hire of Leavitt .

Kids that want to be apart of "The Rise" are not going to follow a DC to a 4-8 school who is last in the North.
I am sure they liked him, and wanted to play for him, however The Buffs are what they fell in love with.
I don't see us losing recruits to UO because of this.

I think this line of thinking is a bit naive...

I'm pretty sure there will be some negative recruiting from all over the place because of this news. We need to shut down Okie Lite in the bowl game and get a quality replacement in place shortly after that to keep the recruiting momentum going. Interesting that this happened right after the start of the dark period...not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.

I also find it ironic that UO has a history of hiring our coaches...

It was a great run with Leavitt, but you can't blame the man for taking advantage of his opportunities to provide for his family in the twilight of his career.

Let's all be honest with ourselves here. Leavitt used CU, CU used Leavitt. The relationship was pretty well understood from the start. It does suck that he left for another Pac 12 program but if that's the next step to getting him where he wants to go, then good luck to him! He did a fine job here and the Buffs will move on. Gotta think there's a lot of up and coming, talented defensive coaches that would love to come be a part of this program.

Yeah I'm sure he's hurting financially.

Btw who is committed that Leavitt was the primary recruiter for?
Carson Wells is the only commit he was a primary recruiter for. However his presence was important, getting a new DC in there will be needed to re-solidify some and re-gain momentum on some uncommitted prospects. Also wouldn't put it past him to go after some of our defensive commits, even if he wasn't the primary recruiter.

I don't get the hate for the money here. If you're at your day job, and another company, doesn't matter if it's lateral or not, offers to double your salary, let alone multiply it exponentially, are you really going to have a problem with it?

Nobody likes to be left by someone. Anger and lashing out... At least there won't be any revenge porn.

best avatar yet. Thats saying a lot with it being red and white

If, as reported, we are willing to pay $800,000, I think we'll be fine. Now, if Tumpkin gets promoted, no way he gets paid that much. Then we use the money elsewhere to strengthen the staff. We'll be fine.

who are you, his accountant? everything is relative, dudehead...
Nope but I don't like the timing at all. Mr. Twitter smfh. We are supposed to be preparing for a damn Bowl and he splits now? Plus I doubt his bank account is empty. It is a cheesedick move.

well apparently his defenses ranked in the 100s most of his time at CMU, so that's probably a reason. If he ends up the choice then so be it, but I hope Mac does a search to be sure
I thought his last year there the defense was pretty highly ranked.
