Lookalike & Game thread - #20/21 (AP/ Coaches)/ #20 (NET rankings) Men's bball on the road vs. #38 (NET) USC (L.A., Saturday, 2/1, 8:30 PM MT, FS1)

He has become a high effort defensive player. Struggles with certain physical matchups, but we can live with that. Most of defense and rebounding is about effort.
And he's giving the effort, which is what we need from him.

I think confidence makes the effort obvious. I always thought the effort was there, but the instincts/confidence weren't so a lot of the effort was lost in thinking about every step on every possession.

That was one hell of a half of basketball
Intense tonight. Mathews is the only guy from USC so far who accepted the challenge. I don't think they're built to beat us from the perimeter playing one-on-one offense.

Very nice half. Maybe Parquet should play more? Ahead of Kountz? Kountz has a higher ceiling, Parquet has a higher floor.
I trust Kountz more on offense, and Parquet more on defense. I think you've gotta let matchups and feel dictate where the minutes go to those guys.

How's their stadium 1/2 empty? 1st in the Pac, in a metro area of 8 million, and they cannot get a good crowd? So spoiled!

I am not quite sure if I would let Kountz back on the court. CU rebounding and playing D like I would expect and much better effort than at UCLA. I will admit I think UCLA has more talent than this USC team though. Very good half for the Buffs

Parquet wants it more. Not sure if I see the same desire from kountz
If he can improve his handle a bit and develop a consistent stroke from 3, he becomes a very high usage 2. Hell, as long as he doesn't turn the ball over I'll take him as the primary sub for Gatling to get his defense, effort and rebounding.

No Daniels and we're shooting pretty well from 3 -- despite none from Lucas, Gatling and Kin. Those guys need to hit in the 2nd half, though, because it probably won't keep coming from Bey, Battey and Parquet.

Whatever it is, hurry up. What's the holdup? We've all seen what happened.

Refs just trying to take control. Which I get. But we got screwed over a bit on that.

Battey rarely gets the benefit of the doubt with officials.

zebras don’t like gravy.
