This is the thread I've been following: http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/MessageTopic.asp?p=23007568&Pg=1
LSUpimp is funny: "He is NOT taking that vastly inferior position".
followed by: "I'm a huge CU guy."
So how far apart $ wise do you think they are now?

$500,000+
I would bet CU is not too far from $2.5 but I bet Miles is at $3. (He's making $3.75 mil annually, now)
That is not enough to stop this from happening IMO. If we can find the money to buyout Barney and Hawk $10mill+ combined we should be able to close such a small gap. If this Admin is as serious as they say they are in competing at the highest level.
Give Miles that $500,000 and kiss any quality assistant coaches goodbye.
Pretty sure the school had to borrow money to buyout Barnett. ($3 million)
And every dollar over $2 million that goes to a coach like Miles means a dollar taken away from the assistant coaching pool. Give Miles that $500,000 and kiss any quality assistant coaches goodbye.
I wouldn't be so sure. We've had a lot of great assistants at CU, even under Hawkins.
Not sure if serious...
Grimes? Brown? Cabral?
CU can get good assistants paying in the $200k-$300k range. No reason to go to SEC type assistant salaries right away. Give raises to retain them if necessary, though. As the Pac-12 media contract kicks in, we'll be able to afford to do that.

I somewhat remember something about how the school is going to start kicking in some serious money into the athletic department a few months back. Is that still true?
And we lost 2 of the 3 to other schools. Cabral is a fixture at the school.
The only coaching change at LSU will be the firing of Gary Crowton. There is no way Miles can keep him on the staff any longer. It is reported he is a top candidate for the ULL job. Poor Ragin Cajuns - the guy is a moron.quote:
I can tell you that it is a FACT that Les is interested in the CU job and his people have been communicating/negotiating with the CU people. That is a fact. Say it's stupid all you want, but it is happening.
quote;
Like I said earlier...CU needs to hire someone quickly and they are WAY too far apart right now with what Miles desires.
CU is very close to walking away from the table (Miles, too) because both sides realize that it probably can't happen. The only point is that he IS/WAS interested and DID engage in talks with CU.
