NIL: How Does it Work? (Plus transfer rules)

I don't think we know yet what is allowed, what the NCAA will actually try to punish, and whether things will be above or below board. What we do know is that interested parties will find a way to use their money to give their school a competitive edge.

Maybe the only way to ever get a level playing field on player play and eliminate most of the sleaze is to spin off athletic departments, get them to form a league, make athletes professionals, and legitimize it with a collective bargaining agreement signed by the college athletes union. That seems like a far off bridge we may never reach, imo.

it’s moving quickly. Several commissioners are investigating whether you can collectively bargain without players being employees. Plus this meeting.

They can offer him rev share money, legally.
Yes I’m aware. I’m on a message board daily talking about football and you think I missed this? Lol

Read the post right above yours (329), I gave further clarification.

This made me reflect that it seems surprisingly low that pro teams are rarely, if ever, accused of paying under the table to give themselves a competitive advantage.

I guess corruption in college sports is driven by the passion alumni have for their schools?

I know. I’m talking about giving him a big chunk of the team budget. For the class adhering to the rules, I meant as far as coaches telling players they can get them this much in NIL outside the budget which is not true anymore. So I’m just assuming under the table payments
There is a lot of uncertainty around the third party collectives. The CSC has loosened the initial ban on NIL payments from them so most are pretty much operating under the assumption that schools rev share will have a cap, but collectives can still pay above that.

Bread, here’s one I heard. Some GMs are baiting the hook with big promises of money, originally designated from shared rev pool, then transitioned in the interim to NIL deals. That seems strategically like a good idea, but it’s gonna take a lot of NIL deals to make up the rev share money being promised. They can promise more, in aggregate, than the football portion of the 20.5M allocated because they may -or may not- ever pay it. It, on the surface, seems like a great deal to the recruit I suspect, but it looks like a potential bait and switch scheme to me. I will say this… there are some very smart people in these GM and player development roles these days, many with NFL experience.

Not trying to tell you something you already know (I know you keep up) just sharing an idea that seems suspicious to me.

Is it not totally likely that Texas Tech is paying its commitments NOW, while in High School to get their commitment?
What is the feeling on essentially pre-recruiting guys.
Tech is crooked as hell with their money guy

All I know is that I have my popcorn out waiting to see Oregon fan (or coach) go on a rant about how a school having a billionaire sugar daddy making them into something they're not is complete bs.

The consequences to a pro team getting caught cheating are dire.

NIL at work for Colorado in the Denver Area, love to see it, Juju is the future

Taco Bell for the win, Touchdown Cash

QB1 at Colorado under Prime will always become a brand on the same level as any other program in the country. Salter is flying under the radar right now but will be a household name 3 months from now. Juju is going to be even bigger.

I posted before that I was a Taco Bell manager in my previous life. For 16 years. And, after leaving TB to finish my degree full time, the management at my last store knew and liked me, so hooked me up with free food a few times a week for over a year.

I can't imagine a situation where I would pay for Taco Bell again.

If I'm caught having to consume fast food, my order is 1) Arby's 2) Jack in the Box 3) Anything besides McDonalds
