Colorado signs six-year old Bellamy to NLI
By: Seth Pringle, Athletic Communications
BOULDER –Colorado women's basketball partnered with Team IMPACT to sign 6-year-old Bellamy Korn as a late-season addition to the Buffaloes squad on Wednesday.

Bellamy, who was accompanied by her mom, Sarah, and three brothers, Caden, Asher and Bode, signed her National Letter of Intent with the entire CU women's basketball team in attendance.

"I think it means a lot to all of our players," head coach JR Payne noted. "All of our coaches and our entire program to be able to have Bellamy join our team, not just for the remained of the season but forever. We say 'Buffs are one' and are definitely excited to have Bellamy and her family be a part of our program moving forward."

Bellamy is currently undergoing treatment for Leukemia. She is a spunky and inspiring girl who has been and continues to be, resilient throughout her medical journey. She and her family also aim to raise awareness of childhood cancer.

Last March, Bellamy was diagnosed with Leukemia and her treatment plan has caused her to frequently miss school, limiting her social interactions and keeping her from seeing her friends. However, in December of 2023, Bellamy found a new team when she was introduced to the Buffs and instantly filled that void with friendly players and staff. The team has also given Bellamy's mom and brothers tremendous joy and emotional support.

"We are committed to standing by Bellamy and her family's side every step of the way, offering our encouragement and unwavering support," Team IMPACT Ambassador Charlotte Whittaker said. "As we navigate life daily on and off the court, we do so with a renewed sense of purpose, knowing that it's not only for ourselves but for our courageous teammate, Bellamy, who embodies the true meaning of resilience."

Colorado will hit the road this week to visit No. 7 USC and No. 12 UCLA but will return home for its final two games next week. Bellamy will be in attendance for both games against Washington and Washington State.

She will be an honorary starter for the Buffs against WSU as part of the Play4Kay Cancer awareness game. The team will have a Team IMPACT day on Mar. 2, which will feature an on-court pregame ball presentation with Bellamy, before tipping off against the Cougars.

Childhood cancer must be a nightmare for the family, but it gives me warm fuzzies to see the Buffs participating in this program.

Bellamy is a sweet little girl. Her mom said Bellamy got totally overwhelmed by all of the cameras at the ceremony yesterday. CU has been treating this little girl and her family like royalty this season.

Happy she gets to "start" next weekend.

Her mom said all of the players and coaches have been very kind to Bellamy. The coaches are wearing Bellamy Will Win bracelets on the bench.

There is supposed to be a short story on Bellamy during halftime of tonight's game. Guessing it will be from the CU footage.

She will also have a longer story on Our Stories.
