That Joel Klatt can utter coherent sentences these days is a testament to his toughness and the existence of miracles.

The 1956 Buffs are playing Missouri for the Big 7 Championship. On a game winning drive, CU is stopped on a 4th and one. In the ensuing pileup just short of the LOS, the Colorado FB bites a Mizzou defender in the calf.
The Tiger defender gets up throwing punches and earned himself an “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” penalty. 15 yard penalty and 1st down Colorado! The Buffaloes march down the field and score and go on to the Orange Bowl.
Told to me first hand from Gene Worden, CU HB, ‘55, ‘56, ‘57... #22 ....
....and my high school history teacher.

It was so bad UT’s last score was with 7:36 remaining in the 3Q. That beating is an all timer. UT could’ve beaten us by 100 that day if they wanted.

John was from Salida and passed away in 2016.

Here is a nice story about John Bayuk. I was proud to wear 30 when I dressed for home games and the bowl game my senior year when I made the team as a reserve. I never played, but would never trade the experience. I was a lucky man.
