He is probably the one guy Tucker continually mentions in a positive way. That video clip showed him beating Abrams for a TD among at least one other catch. He seems to be forcing his way onto the field and will see a lot of meaningful snaps.
The amount of depth and talent at the WR position is unreal. Tucker really needs to find another Chev-like recruiter for the defensive side, preferably DB and/or DL.
Biggest gaps right now? Obviously we don’t have our dl settled. I think the 8-9 rotation is a goal not a reality.
I get the feeling the staff feels ok about the rbs, the lbs, and obviously wr. No one is going to really push Montez so that is obviously settled.
The ol seems like it is settling into a rotation they think works.
Secondary still seems like a big work in progress. How did the so called db masters on the last staff get us into this position?

Here’s the question. What are you actually arguing? That Suavo is a good guard? Needed at guard? A possible starter at guard? A possible contributor at guard? Better at guard than DL? More needed at guard than DL? Never gonna get a rep at DL? Holds too often? Can’t pull?
You seem to be against moving OG5 (at least) to another position.
Hambright, Sherman, Fillip and Ray comprise the supposed two deep at OT. Pursell, Kutsch, Lynott and Roddick comprise the depth at G and C. Both Ray and Sherman can play Guard if needed.
Technically, that’s not a full two deep, but there is enough depth on the OL with those 8 guys, to move a guy who isn't factoring in at Guard, to DL and give that position more size and depth.

That’s more than enough especially where you don’t rotate on OL near as much.

What I stated originally is that Sauvao wasn't moved because we were thin at DL and not OL. We have no depth on either line.
You're the one trying to show that's not the case and you can't use Sherman, the RT starter to prove this point. That's nonsensical.
OL is a much more technical position, and bad habits die hard. If he physically profiles as a better DL and he's basically at step zero on technique, he can play earlier on DL.
I find it interesting that folks think we are going to go 9 deep on DL, when we know there's alignments where only 2 DL will be on the field. I think they are looking for 7, and they're auditioning the water boys, if they have the size.

If Lynott or Kutch goes down and Fillipi is playing well, Sherman is a top candidate to move inside.
UGA DL played no more than 8 snaps in a row last year.
Depth is needed at DL more so than OG.

But you’re suggesting that 8 guys for 5 positions is really thin, when it’s actually not. How many programs actually run 10+ deep on the OL with guys that can actually play and would be inserted into the game in an injury situation? There shouldn’t be much of a rotation, and if injuries happen there are 3 guys who can straight backfill the position or a starter at T can move to G.
As for DL, I said it a while back but a regular 9 man rotation at DL is not happening. 6-7 guys max
I think most on here seem to know that a 9 man rotation on the dline is probably not realistic this year unless all 4 freshman turn out to be better than JAG's.
We need (at minimum) two of the freshman dline to be good players right away and in the rotation, (probably 3) to at least compete with everyone on the schedule. A 6 man rotation is feasible this year, I hope. 9 would completely shock everyone.

Those are so damn unpredictable, they linger like a mofo sometimes.
I love the way Coach Tucker runs this program, it has not been this well run since Coach Barnett's middle years, or all the way back to Coach McCartney! Tucker is a unicorn, and I love that he is our coach. Guys are pounding on each other and iron sharpens iron. Little dings are happening and guys are working hard to get back. Are we deep enough to handle a lot of injuries at certain positions, nope, but oh well, I think that a lot of guys will contribute, even ones that many on here try to make it sound like they are not good enough to contribute. This team will make us proud, and I am still sticking to 7-8 wins!

Additionally, and you mentioned it, the traditional 2 deep is not how OLs work. You don't put your backup RG in, necessarily, just because your starter went out. It's routine to drop your RT down to guard and bring in *his* backup, because that guy is better than the RG's backup. You get the best 5 on the field at all times. Oregon does this all the time with Throckmorton, in large part because he's just damn good almost anywhere you put him, but also because his backup Aiello is a starter for most teams. Or, Aiello will also be the backup RG and Throck will stay put. That's 2 dudes who could be listed at second string at between 2 and 4 positions, while also still being starters! Injuries change everything, of course, but it's not like 10 man rotations at OL are actually a thing.

Some really good stuff in here. Was glad to hear something about Rakestraw. I'd been afraid that he got left behind after the spring, but it looks like he is still very much in the mix.
From 247 (good to see Chase Howell doing a great job on a day when Adam was off):
Although it seems like Rakestraw has the upper hand to be the starter at free safety when the Rocky Mountain Showdown hits, it is still an ongoing competition and all of the guys in that room continue to push each other.
“There is a lot of good competition at safety,” Rakestraw said. “It’s pushing all of us to get better. We’re all friends with each other, we all watch film together and everything. Everybody is getting better, of course everyone wants to play, so we’re all trying to raise that bar.”
Isaiah Lewis and Aaron Maddox continue to push for first team reps at safety. Mikial Onu is expected to start getting first team reps as he still works on learning the system. Mark Perry has seen reps with the first team at the STAR position.

Something Leavitt was great at was getting his players to rally. I'm not sure we had that the last couple years with a more cerebral approach to coordinating the defense. Not that I don't think JL or Summers are smart and very knowledgeable about their craft, but there's a basic level where football is not chess and it's about "see ball get ball" and aggressively beating your opponent through the point of attack. I think Summers is inspiring some of that, which was needed.
A long-time defensive coach, Tucker is sure to be involved on that side of the ball, but Summers has already earned respect from players and coaches for the job he’s done.
“I love him. I think the whole defense loves him,” inside linebacker Jonathan Van Diest said. “He’s rah-rah, rowdy and brings a lot of energy and we get behind that. It’s not that he has to be the motivator for us, but you want to play for him. Also he pushes you to play for each other and step up.”
The more I am hearing about how the players are learning from, listening to, liking to be around this staff... I am not surprised that RG moved on from MacIntyre the first chance he could reasonably could. It just wasn't working.
If you’ve been closely following college football for a few decades, there is always a bit of 2nd guessing the last staff. Even more so for the strength coach...it’s like the sun sets in the west and water is wet. I do like the things we hear out of camp about HCMT and staff, though.
I will also say that while I think former HCMM has a good football mind, his tenure at CU would probably be viewed much more negatively if it weren’t for the incredibly low bar set by the prior two staffs.
