looks like. while i am indeed glad it exists....it is truly an eyesore.
Sucks that we don't have a permanent facility with a running track yet....Best vegas bet on when we will break ground on one??? -- I say 4 years
yeah but where would they put it? the biggest downside of our campus is we don't have a lot of room.
the plans I saw had a permanent IPF with offices, weight room etc going in north of the NE corner of the stadium and east of the Dal Ward

price tag was around 70M
i hope it's not Franklin Field, though that would be the obvious choice. bad enough the AD put a fence around it so it can be used twice a week (!) but your everyday students can't check out hotties sunbathing or throw the frisbee there anymore. i don't see why an indoor facility can't be built out on the intramural fields by Kittridge (they put sportgrass out there already--again, closing down the sunbathing/frisbee thing so flag football can be played 4 times a week--but, intramurals could still use it. the current bubble is used at night by several club teams and women's soccer). or: out by Potts Field. put the players on the Buff Bus....on the rare occasion they practice indoors. lotta kids do it to and from WillVill every day.
Yeah. Is franklin field the one between libby, baker, the music building, cheyho, willard, and farrand? No way can you put a building there. That's stupid. Tear down the building with that crappy pool and the basketball courts and put it in there. Or put it out by kittredge somewhere.

Scroll down and you can see a rendering.--- It was in the proposed 2010 Master Plan. They wanted to do the whole thing at once..i.e. stadium suites, flatirons reno and practice facility. The estimated cost was 100-130 million for everything and we all know how that turned out since we just got the east side club seats. Not sure how much just the field house would cost but I know it wouldn't be cheap. My gues is 30-50 mil since they want to have an underground parking structure as well.
Flatirons reno is in fact coming in short order based on my discussions with people at CU.
http://www.sinkcombs.com/projects/planning/index.html - Honestly I like what they had planned here. They put it on top of the parking lot north of franklin field and Carlson is not totally destroyed just expanded/remodeled for the Flatirons club expansion.
Its to the east of the Stadium. I think you're talking about Farrand field.
If they are gunna put it on top of a parking structure, why not on top of that lot that is near the UMC? It's kinda an eyesore anyway.
that also used to be an open area that was pretty nifty with students hanging out and such inna day. it had a name, but i can't remember. i never understood why they claim that space to parking and only built down 2 levels. like you say, if it's gonna be ugly might as well stack it up some more. seemed like a half-hearted effort with a high level of uglification in the mix.
that Grandview area has been a political football between the City and CU for years....even though CU owns the land. a lot of Boulder's "do-gooders" want the area preserved as historical sites. the new building, which is a bit of a barn dressed up in "CU style" has something to do with the Behavioral sciences building that is currently on Broadway about a block south of Starbucks.
every summer after school ends (while Boulderites aren't paying attention, one of the old houses turns into a gravel lot under cover of the night....one by one). i think land is too valuable in terms of it's new academic building potential to house a football practice facility...from CU's perspective. it's close enough to the Main campus/Norlin quad that it can be "collegey" without much work. and easily walkable for students going from class to class, mostly. aren't too many places like that left around the main campus. a football practice facility is going to look like a big ass shed you buy at Home Depot on about a 2500:1 scale. sitting up on that bluff with the "grand view" is way too visible for a gigantic Tuff Shed you can punt in.
I can't wait till we get up to current times with bigger scoreboards.
I would also like to see the stadium become a complete bowl with seats connecting to Dal ward on each side. Maybe even put another ring in the south side as well.
might work and preserve some of the Franklin Field flava. though, i'm also sure that the FF bigtime donor gameday parking also argues for the continued existence of FF.
