COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 30 Missouri at Vanderbilt

Coach Prime has found his Xavier Weaver replacement

Colorado’s recruiting tear is showing no signs of slowing down. Entering Thursday, the Buffs already had the top rated transfer portal class in the country. Now, CU’s ranking is climbing even higher after snagging the fifth best wide receiver available in the portal. Vanderbilt’s Will Sheppard is officially heading to Boulder to play for the Buffaloes in 2024. Sheppard must be a fan of black and gold, as he’s trading in Vandy’s uniforms for a shiny and polished Nike sponsored Coach Prime makeover.

At Vanderbilt, Sheppard proved that he is one of the best wide receivers in the entire SEC. Sheppard finished the 2023 season with 684 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns, making him the 13th leading receiver in the nation’s top conference last season. Putting up those stats in the SEC is extremely impressive, doubly so when having to play with a 2-10 Vanderbilt squad. It’s safe to say that Coach Prime has landed another stud, as the Buffs now have their direct successor to Xavier Weaver.

Last season, Deion manifested that this was going to happen. Coach Prime predicted that the Buffs were going to start stealing top of the line SEC talent, which is exactly where we are now. Sheppard very easily can and likely will be the best wide receiver in Boulder next season. Providing Shedeur Sanders with weapons of Sheppard’s caliber is extremely exciting and tantalizing. Colorado’s is putting themselves in the position to be an offensive powerhouse next season, but only time will tell if everything will materialize.
