Hawk was preening his ruffled feathers after the game Saturday, and calling out loyal fans who chose to protest the state of the program they loved, and who pay his salary. He on the other hand is only getting what success he has thanks to what we have seen all along. Here are the top 3 examples:
1. Tyler Hanson-most were at least willing to give Cody a chance at the beginning of the season, but it was obvious by halftime of the first game that he couldn't get the job done. We all knew the change needed to be made, but Hawk waited till game SIX to make the change at starter, and even pulled his stupid Cody act the following week at KSU. Especially funny about the "experience" point he tried to make, Tyler has coolly executed efficient scoring drives to take the lead very late against both KU and aTm.
2. Darrell Scott-we have been begging for more playing time for Scott. The few times he has had more than 5 carries in a half, he averaged over 7 yards per carry. Thanks to Hawk and his lunch pail mentality we lost a great athlete who saw his NFL chances slipping away.
3. Wide Receivers-we watched as Hawk started Espy and Ebner, while Simas and Simmons remained on the sidelines. This led to opposing defenses leaving sometimes 9 guys in the box because they had zero fear of our passing attack. Again we saw the obvious need for the playmakers standing on the sideline, but they didn't practice hard enough or test out best. Now he was putting out groupings of Jefferson, McKnight, Simas, and Simmons and they delivered with Simas averaging 20 yards a catch.
I know this is obvious to pretty much everybody here, but that is what makes it so sad. WE knew better than the highest paid employee in the state what this team needed to succeed, and yet he only now is making these changes because he has no other options. This guy needs to be dropped like a bad habit.
