Recruits families

Looking at the Broussard tweeted photo in his thread got me thinking.

Hawkins used to make a big deal about recruits families. MacIntyre doesn't say much about it but is seems like a really high percentage of his recruits have great families that give a lot of support. We haven't had much of the attrition that comes from guys not adjusting to college life and I think these families have a lot to do with it. It also seems like the families really end up liking MacIntyre.

Comments.

A lot of MacIntyre's discipline in terms of how he manages the roster is that he keeps the parents/guardians involved. If there's an issue, they get called. For a system like that to work, you need to recruit players whose parents will put a boot in their ass so that the coaches don't have to. :D And for the parents to be on board, they have to trust the coach. That gets built and earned. At a lot of places it's almost an adversarial relationship between the coach and the parents. HCMM's program can be very different from that standpoint.
